Hi, I play Genos 2 and would like to connect a tablet to show my music, it seems most people go for I pads, but they are so expensive to buy just to use as a way of displaying music..... after reading lots of different views, I feel that an android tablet is the way to go, but then I saw this:
Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

I'm confused as to what this actually is.... I get that its more of an E reader than a normal tablet but would this work...
1 to show the music and 2 to be connected to a bluetooth page turner ?
Anyone got one or know how it works.
Thanks

Hi
I'm also in  the market for a tablet. There are two of this TCL brand on Amazon UK with the cheapest at £170. Neither has Bluetooth.

Last week, with a Chinese friend of mine who has an MSc in computer science and works in the sector, visited several stores in my hometown as I like to see and examine the merchandise rather than just read a review. We also visited two music shops to look at page turners. Compared to China this was a tiring process. In China, in Shenzen for example, everything is in one massive district: parts, services, every brand you could think of. It may even take several days but you usually find what you want - as he kept on reminding me  8)  8)

I'm considering a Samsung tablet. We used Windows at work so all my software is Windows. I didn't go down the Apple route for music production. I don't want another laptop. The laptop I have is a 15" Dell 2 in 1 but I don't want to use this just for displaying sheets as I have done in the past. So, the choices are quite limited if you want a quality build.

This looks like a nice bit of kit and thank you Bill for the input, but its only a 10in tablet, the TLC is 14 and a half inch which is almost A4 size.

I checked the whole Fusion range - it is on my list.  It's a British company, although I'm not sure what that means in terms of manufacturing.
Battery life is 5 hours. It does have a micro-HDMI slot which is a bonus to me.

What is the optimum size tablet for sheet music regardless of brand? I do need to use glasses for small print after cataract removal.

For what it is worth, I have had a Fusion5 Android tablet for about 4 years - trouble free (touch wood).

The micro usb connection works seamlessly with the Mobilesheets Pro app and via a cable connection for registrations on a Genos 1 (initially) but now a Yamaha CVP 805. (Select a song on Mobilesheets and the registration is automatically loaded.)

The mini HDMI port connects to a 24 inch monitor on top of the CVP.  All my music is scanned and is quickly accessible, links with registrations and easily backed up.

The Fusion5 also has a slot for a micro SD memory expansion card so it is unlikely you will run out of storage.

I only use blutooth for backing up the Mobilesheets Pro library to my PC.

The Fusion, monitor and Mobilesheets Pro app together was cheaper than an Ipad with a reasonable memory.

Hope this is of help.

Kind regards,
David G

Hi David
Your experience is of immense help, thank you. The sections I have emboldened are very relevant.  My weaknesss is what in management-speak is called "paralysis by analysis" - other more charitable people would call it 'due diligence'. For years I was a subscsersiber to Which a UK consumer organisation. This influenced all my purchasing decisions from power tools to car insurance.
I read the reviews, read comments by users, try to see the thing in real life when relevant, study the specs and the manual.
Samsung was an option as all my white goods in China are this brand, mobile phones too -and all trouble-free for years. I have several music apps on my main phone, another consideration. But the Windows choice I think will be the clincher.

Appreciate you help.

As Sam has said, thanks for the great info David, having never set up a tablet with a keyboard before this is good to know as this is the way I intended to go,using Mobile Sheets and a cable to the Genos2.
I've bought the tablet now, Amazon dropped the price on the TLC 14 nxtpaper from £400 to £336 a couple of days ago, so I just went for it, so far it looks absolutely fantastic but so far I've only set up the internet and apps ect, and as we all know, setting it up with the keyboard is when the problems start.
Cheers

I realized yesterday that I do in fact use blutooth- every time I use the piano.  I said in my original post that I rarely use blutooth.  I have a Moukey air-turn pedal for page turning, connected to the tablet which operates Mobilesheets.

Sorry to you and Sam if I misled you.

Kind regards,
David G

I guessed that you must be using a blutooth pedal to turn your pages,is the air turn any good ?
My next purchase will be a pedal and I'm torn between the Air turn and the cheaper Lekato.

I bought an Air Turn DUO200 Bluetooth Foot Switch Controller but could not get it to operate with Mobilesheets and/or the Fusion tablet.  I spent some hours trying to find out whether the problem was with connecting to the tablet or working with the Mobilesheets app.  Never did resolve it so I sent it back and went with the Moukey. Maybe you should have a look at the Mobilesheets web site - they will likely have information on compatible blutooth page turners.

Hi there
On the MobileSheets website they have examples of Bluetooth page turners as we would expect. The Air Turn Duo 500 is the first one in the illustrated list. But the list is short and although it includes the Firefly and Donner it does not include any Lekato pedals that we know work very well.

Incidentally, are you using the MobileSheets Companion?  A free app that can ".. unlock the ability to manage your library from the comfort of your PC. The companion app is designed to connect over WiFi to MobileSheets running on an Android, Windows or iOS/MacOS device. The companion app supports Windows 10 and 11, Linux and MacOS."

I'm still cataloguing all my sheets on Excel.
