I spent some time with my Genos2 and the Expansion Explorer yesterday. It has a very nice user interface, but as far as I can tell, it apparently cannot load styles from expansion packs; all you get is a relatively small number of styles that are built into the app.

Is this correct? I was hoping for something better with this new app. 

As far as I know, the expansion explorer can load all styles from all the SX720/SX920/genos2 expansion packs of Yamaha, but not from any other pack. Did you alread use the search function? For instance, if I search for "waltz", the result offers me 48 styles.

Does this software search only styles ON my keyboard? Or does it search through packs that are on my PC hard drive?

I don't see what this software can do that the Keyboard's "SEARCH" is already able to do.

Search is on available packs from Yamaha. They do not have to be installed on your keyboard. You can listen to the style and then decide if you want to download the style or not.

I did a feature request on IdeaScale to make it possible to download and search complete packs and the option to add third party packs to the Expansion Explorer. Would be two great updates to the software. Only for the computer versions possible I think.
