Hi everyone,

I am reaching out as a learning beginner keyboard player. My question is:

While playing the keyboard as a piano without the accompaniment (full use of 61 keys), is there a way to get the PSR SX720 to display the chord being played on the screen like it does when the accompaniment is on and in the left section?...

Thank you for your time and feedback !..

Welcome to the PSR Tutorial Forum, @BorisCB!

I know of the following two options to ensure that the played chords are displayed when playing without accompaniment:

Option 1:

- Call up the "Split Point & Fingering" display (press "Direct Access > ACMP" or "Direct Access + Sync Start") and set the Fingering Type to "Full Keyboard".

- Press EXIT button to leave this display and make sure that ACMP button is ON.

- Now the played chords (over the full keyboard) are shown in the main display, even if only RIGHT parts are switched on.

Option 2 (If you want to keep your usual Fingering Type, e.g. "AI Fingered"):

- Also switch on the LEFT part and set the same voice (and volume) there as in RIGHT 1 (e.g. CFX Concert Grand).

- Call up the "Voice Setting" display (Menu > Voice Setting) and set "Tune > Octave" from "1" to "0" for LEFT part. (By default, the piano in the LEFT part sounds an octave higher.)

- Press EXIT button to leave this display and make sure ACMP button is OFF.

- Now the chords played in the LEFT split area will be displayed when the LEFT part is on.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

This is what I do.... In the Split Point and Fingering options, set the Style section to be most of the keyboard. I set mine to F#5, leaving just a couple of notes in the R1 section. I've never tried to use the whole board, but it might work fine.
Chord Detection is Lower, Fingering type is Multi Finger, but play with them to find what you prefer.

Now when you exit you should be able to see chords over the whole 'style' area. You don't need ACMP on, but can get more chord responses and different sounds if you do use it. You can use Left Voice, or not.

I've also made an 'empty style' that I load when I use the keyboard this way. It's just a style with all content deleted, then saved. It turns off all the style part lights (except Main A), and if I touch something accidently it won't sound.

Once configured, save it all to a Registration for ease of setting up.... I haven't done this yet, but it's a plan 😂
