Hi all, I have my iPad paired with my SX900. I have several backing tracks I would like to send to my SX900 via Bluetooth. Is this possible and if so how do I go about setting it up so that they can be saved and selectable while playing. Regards Dupe.

Hi Dupe,

I know you can't do it with a Genos so I found this answer for you for the SX 900.

You didn't say what format the backing tracks were.

Hi Rick D, Thank you for your prompt reply, they are U tube karaoke track's and I assume they're MP3.The link you provided gives me an insight with ideas on using a BT connection, if I can record the tracks and then save them would be ideal to include while playing, that's the goal.

Hi @Dupe,

The Bluetooth audio connection only transmits an Audio stream (i.e. the Sound that is currently playing on the iPad) to the keyboard. You always have to control playback, i.e. which title is played, in the relevant app on the iPad. No files are transferred via the Bluetooth audio connection.

If you want to use YouTube karaoke videos offline, you would have to download them (e.g. on your computer or iPad) as a VIDEO file (e.g. in .mp4 format) using appropriate apps or on suitable websites, but then still play them on your iPad. Of course, you can still send the sound to the SX900 via Bluetooth. (Videos cannot be played on Yamaha keyboards.)

If it's about MP3 files with embedded text: Here you would have to download the relevant files from the Internet as usual and copy them to the SX900 via USB stick. Then you can play these MP3 files in the SX900's audio player and call up the text display at the same time. But this has nothing to do with Bluetooth.

Best regards,
Chris

Sorry if this is off-topic, does Audio Recording (.wav and .mp3) record everything that is being played in the keyboard?

I've used this method to "convert" .midi recorded files to .mp3 or .wav.

Does this work for audio played through Bluetooth?

@overover Hi, I'm not sure if I've explained myself properly for what I'm aiming to do.
I have a utube backing track on my iPad, I can listen to it through my Bluetooth earphones, my SX900 is also paired to my iPad, if I could listen to it on my SX900, could I record it and save it as an audio file and then have it playing as a backing track while I'm playing the melody.
Thanks for you reply. Regards Dupe

Dupe,

If I understand correctly, you are trying to get some MP3 files to play through the Genos 2 to accompany your playing.
The way I would do it is convert the tracks to WAV using Audacity (free) and then make Multipads of the backing tracks. You could make a registration of your settings and save it making sure Multipad is checked in the pop up window. You could then make the Multipad start when you begin playing. To me that would be easier then trying to get everything sync'd with tracks using audio. There are many ways to do things, none of them are wrong.

@Rick D, I came across this link that somebody else has successfully achieved:- https://forum.psrtutorial.com/index.php?topic=53729.0

I have everything paired up ok, but do I have to select an input on my SX900 to hear it playing?
Thanks for replying Dupe.

Hi @TechDocTones,
hi @Dupe,

Yes, Audio Recording on Genos and PSR-SX models records the whole keyboard including the MIC input, AUX input and Bluetooth Audio. Note that you can set the AUX / Bluetooth Audio input volumes in "Mixer > Panel 2" page.

Chris

Hi @overover, Thanks for coming back, I have both my SX900 and iPad paired together and panel shows connected, however nothing coming through the keyboards speakers? If I select the mixer, all sliders are at 100 but nothing at any volume setting. Dupe

Hi @Dupe,

Have you really checked the Mixer page "Panel > Panel 2"? (You have to touch the right arrow next to "Panel 1" to display "Panel 2" page and to see the AUX and Bluetooth volume controls.)

Hi @overover, 👍👍👍😀 Thanks a million Chris, located panel 2 and Bluetooth mixer slider was at minimum.
This is an amazing keyboard and I'm still discovering its many features. Perhaps if you buy new out of the box, some adjustable settings are defaulted to midway! This was a pre-owned model, must check the manual again, as I can't remember a separate gain slider for Bluetooth in the text anywhere.
I can now record and save my backing tracks, and then play to them.
So glad I can seek help here, thank you so much. Regards Dupe

@Rick D. Yes Chris was spot on, If I had looked closer at the mixer, I had  not noticed the > symbol. Problem solved. Thanks for your post 👍 Dupe.

Dupe,

Glad you got it sorted now go have fun and play. There are a lot of one handed players out there. I remember as a kid I broke my finger on my right hand and learned to work around it and also when I broke my left leg while playing an organ with full bass pedals, learned to play the bass with my right foot. As long as there is a passion, you will find a way. The important thing is to enjoy yourself.
