Hi all

I want to use a foot pedal to control intros, style changes, start /stop and a few other things. I was thinking the MFC10 or FCB1010 Foot Pedals but I have no experience with them. How easy will it be to ensure the switches are assigned to the respective commands?

I checked the Implementation chart but cannot find anything on it.

I tried replicating something similar from a Midi Controller to control start/stop etc but had no idea where to start!

Hi  @Clarencep,

Please first make sure that you have installed the latest firmware update (V1.10) on your Genos2. If necessary, you can download it here:
>>> Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

If you do not yet have the Genos2 Reference Manual (for V1.10), please download this PDF file from the link provided. You should also take the opportunity to download the Genos2 Owner's Manual (PDF) and the Genos2 Data List (.xlsx Excel format).

The assignments for an external MIDI controller pedal are made under "Menu > MIDI > External Controller". Please see pages 155 - 158 in the Genos2 Reference Manual.

It is best to first set the preset MIDI template "All Parts" in the MIDI display (if it is not already activated). Based on this, you make the desired changes / assignments in the "External Controller" tab. After you have made the desired settings for the MIDI pedal and everything is fine, touch "Save" to save all settings as a user MIDI template. Please use a meaningful name, e.g. "All Parts + MFC10".

By the way, the MFC10 or FCB1010 is usually set up so that each switch sends a specific note-on command. In the "External Controller" tab mentioned above, you then assign the various switches (note-on commands) to the desired functions. Certain MIDI Continuous Controller numbers are used for variable parameters (e.g. Volume = CC #7), which you assign accordingly there.

With the instructions mentioned in the G2 Reference Manual and the manual of the MIDI controller pedal you are using (and a little patience ;-) ) you should be able to successfully make the desired assignments.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

holy molly thank you so much. The manual is like the bible. I'm surprised Yamaha didn't include this!
