I'm not very familiar with midi files , but was wondering how one may change the leading instrument/setting to another sound, on the main melody line of a song, ie the right hand melody line. Thankyou.

Hi @Ray,

The procedure for changing MIDI file settings in the Mixer display and saving them again differs for different keyboard models. Which model do you have? CVP-809?

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Chris, Yes I have the CVP-809, and play the instrument more like the Genos ( using their backings etc. ) more than as a piano. Thankyou

Hi @Ray,

I recently described the procedure for saving the changes made in the Mixer display on the Tyros5:
>>> https://forum.psrtutorial.com/index.php/topic,70175.msg526739.html#msg526739

Here is the procedure for the CVP-809:

- Load the MIDI file as usual.

- Open the Mixer display as usual and make the desired changes there (pages "Song Ch1-8" and "Song Ch9-16").

Resave the MIDI file as follows:
- Open the Song Creator display via [Menu] > [SongCreator].

- Touch [Setup].

- On the SETUP popup, checkmark the items of playback features and functions that you wish to automatically be called up along with the selected Song. Make sure that the top seven check boxes are ticked (Voice - Tempo) and the bottom five check boxes are NOT ticked (Keyboard Voice - Vocal Harmony/Mic Setting):

- Press the SONG STOP button to make sure the song position is at the beginning (!)

- Touch [Execute] (!)

- Touch [Close] to close the Setup popup.

- Touch the [Save] icon to save the changed MIDI file. Use a new/changed file name if you do not want to overwrite the original file.

- Complete!   :)

Please also see the section "Creating/Editing MIDI Songs" in the CVP-809 Reference Manual (from page 66). Specifically, see the notes on page 77 for "Setup". If you don't have the Reference Manual yet, you can download it here:

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
