I play an SX900 and very happy with its performance and features, however I prefer my own Grand Piano tweaked settings. My question is, how if possible, can I select my setting to play as an alternative when selecting piano options, and save it in my reg bank. Hope this makes sense.

Shouldn't be any problem saving the voice to a registration. Just make sure the voice is loaded when you memorize the registration (and the voice box is checked in the Memory Contents screen).

You can also save your modified voice as a user voice. This has the advantage that you can use this user voice in the same way as a preset voice. To do this, simply tap Save in the voice edit display after you have made all the settings.

@KurtAgain, thanks for your reply, Will try out your suggestion. I spend most of my spare time, trying to improve my playing, I must investigate more of what features the SX900 can unfold. 👍

I think I'm getting there, so I have tweaked my grand piano settings and saved it in user. Let's say I want to play "Bohemium Rhapsody" from my reg bank selection, but I know want my tweaked grand piano, which I saved in user. How can I replace the default grand piano voice, for my new voice I've got stored in user, is it possible? Regards Dupe

Hi dupe,

You choose your user voice just like a preset voice.

For example: After pressing the "Right1" button, you select in the selection display in the upper row "User" and then you also choose "User" on the left edge of the display. Now you should be able to see and choose your user piano voice.

This is definitely possible for R1, R2 and R3. And I think that with an SX900 this is also possible for the voices of the style, but I'm not sure.

Hi Kurt,

User Voices that contain modified settings can only be used in Keyboard parts (RIGHT, LEFT).

If such a User Voice is used in Style, MIDI file or Multi Pad parts, the modified settings, i.e. the modified Voice Set, would be ignored. This means that only the original Preset Voice would sound.

Thanks Kurt and Chris, I understand what you're saying, I'll try what you have suggested. I thought at first you could make up a preferred voice setting, then add it into the default voices list. However using my saved tweaked grand piano voice, I assume it can be saved in registration, without the need to manually select it next time.

Hi Dupe,

Of course, you could also (only) memorize your Tweaked Piano Voice directly into a registration, e.g. in Right1. However, the current voices of the other two Right parts are also memorized.

If you later want to use your tweaked Piano Voice in other registrations, this would be a bit inconvenient. I therefore recommend saving the tweaked Piano Voice as a User Voice first. Then in the future you can call up this voice for a specific keyboard part and then memorize the entire Panel settings to a registration. Of course, you can also re-memorize existing registrations this way.

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Chris, thanks for your reply. I have a better understanding of what I have to do. Selecting the tunes I want to play featuring the grand piano, then select the grand piano voice, and finally from the display panel, select user where I've saved my new tweaked grand piano voice (sounds good) then memorise it in my reg bank. Job done.
I love this forum, thanks again for helping me out.

Kind regards Dupe
