saving a midi?

OK  So you open a midi file. You tweak it. How do you save it? (psr sx900)

Menu2: Song Recording > MIDI Multi Recording -there's a Save icon on the top of the display.

I do all that, and what I save is back to the original. When I go to save it says something like "for personal use only"?

What midi file are you tweaking? One you created? A Yamaha file? A third party file?

And what, specifically, is the message?
