When i started learning the SX-900 keyboard a couple years ago, I got the impression that most users stored their styles on a USB drive.  I have them in a SONGS folder on my USB.  I noticed registrations were also stored in that directory.  I wonder if there is any benefit to having my styles and regs in the USER dir? They only take up 21 Mb in that dir.

I've always stored my files on the User drive. I use USBs only to transfer files to a computer or another keyboard.

The benefits are that files load slightly faster, and you don't have to worry about lugging the USB stick around.

The downside is you'd have to re-memorize your registrations to tell them you've moved your styles to a different drive.

All things considered, if I were you, I'd leave things the way they are. The benefits are not worth the cost.

I keep everything onto the USB stick and it holds 8 gig. With my new SX920 keyboard I have even moved all the onboard styles to the USB stick.

The great thing setting up this way on the USB stick is when I got my SX920, I stuck my USB into the keyboard and everything worked perfect.

As to loading styles and registrations, it all loads instantly.

I do not even load the Expansion Packs into the keyboard. I rework the styles so they all use the keyboard's onboard voices. So, even my Expansion Packs are on the USB stick. I do not even fool around loading and unloading anything onto the keyboard.

My USD stick is now holding 315MB.
