Hi all,

The Expansion memory on the PSR-SX920 is 2GB and the Genos2 3GB, internal memory 4GB vs 15GB Genos2
I do not understand that Yamaha do not allocate more memory on Expansion Memory what is far more used than the internal memory. When you like to install some packs with voice samples it eats memory quickly, while there are many GB's waiting to be used.Waist of space.

Why is that. I hope Yamaha will allocate more memory for expansions on the PSR-SX920 and SX720. 2GB is not much, even 3GB for the Genos2 is not much.

Yamaha's user storage and waveform storage use different chips. User storage uses EMMC chips, while waveforms use NAND. Due to the limitations of the SWP70 chip currently used by Yamaha, it is no longer possible to expand more NAND chips. I don't know much about this, but the SWP70 only supports a maximum of 1GB of NAND. Both Genos2 and Genos1 have six NAND chips, but the preset sounds in Genos2 have increased significantly, resulting in less available expansion space compared to Genos1. The SX920 uses four 1GB NAND chips, two of which are used to store preset waveforms, and the other two are for user expansion.
