Hello everyone, I just bought a second-hand Tyros 2, yes it is about 20 years old but it is wonderful. I would have liked a Genos 2 or a Tyros 5 more but my finances were not enough. The issue is that the screen has contrast problems, or it looks very light or very dark, there is an intermediate point where it looks better but it is not what good vision is supposed to be. Can anyone give me any solution or suggestion. Thanks in advance

My new Tyros 2 screen was as you state poor contrast.
Mine had a darker band down left side.
By arrangment with Yamaha I took mine for fitting of new screen but it was no improvement.
Screens improved with Tyros 3 onwards.

Welcome to the PSR Tutorial Forum, @Guillermo Rivera!

Tyros2 has a Contrast control for the display. See also the following screenshot:

Have you tried using this control to make the display as readable as possible?

If this doesn't help, the LCD display is probably defective, or possibly just the LCD backlight. However, such repairs are usually relatively expensive. The spare parts alone often cost a fortune.

My suggestion: Instead of having the display repaired/replaced, you could connect an external display to the Video output.

P.S.
Please note that this is an English-speaking forum. So please post in English only here. Thanks for your understanding!

● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.

Hi Graham

Just been chatting to a Tyros 3 owner and he (very cleverly ) pulled out the Yamaha LCD screen and bought a 7"TFT LCD monitor for a mere $28 including shipping! and stuck it (I assume with mirror foam tape) where the old screen used to be. Because Tyros keyboards already have a VGA and video interface built in it's an easy fix and the side buttons, of course still work as intended! It's actually better than a screen mounted elsewhere cos when you need to use the original screen buttons they are right either side of the new screen. If I plug in my 17" monitor my hand tends to gravitate over to the big screen looking for the a -J buttons so a smaller screen in the original location is clever!!
