Recommendation For Recording Audio 2025

I currently use a refurbished Dell Optiplex 9020 for recording audio from my SX900 to the Optiplex's built in sound card.  I have the two 1/4" keyboard outputs pigtailed into the one mini input on the PC sound card, and for years has worked great for me, as I'm also able to record video with that Line In as the default audio source.

However this is an older computer running Windows 10, and soon Windows 10 will no longer be supported. While searching for a  Windows 11 device, I haven't found a reasonably priced PC or laptop that has a built in sound card with the same mini audio input. Rather most newer PC's and laptops record audio through USB, and since the SX900 does not have a built in USB Audio Interface :-X  I would then have to purchase a separate external interface.

So I'm looking for anyone who has some recommendations on a PC, laptop, USB Audio Interface that I may need to purchase, or perhaps a set up you may be currently using to digitize audio from your keyboard to another device like a PC or laptop.

Thanks in advance for any, and all advise  :)

Hello Larry,

I would like to recommend a much easier way to create your videos and using your windows 10 or Windows 11 pc.

Use your SX900 wav recorder to capture your audio file on to a USB stick.
I always convert my Wav file to an MP3 using Audacity (free program).
Use you current Video recorder.

Install this free program called ... Shotcut
Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

Download it from here: Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

Next you place both the Video and Wav/Mp3 file onto your PC.

Open the Shotcut program and add your Audio and Video files onto the programs PLAYLIST.

Drop the Video file into the Video track. You can then edit the video and cut off the unwanted Beginning and Ending parts using Shotcut.

Add an additional track to place your Audio track. Again use Shotcut to edit Beginning and Ending unwanted parts off the file.

It is then easy to sync the Audio and Video file together by Zooming in on the files with Shortcut. Once you have the to 2 files in sync, you simply Mute the Video track and save the file. I save the file as an MP4 in the default "YouTube" video choice.

Here is a YouTube video showing how easy Shotcut is to use.

Thanks Drake,

That's a practical way, sounds simple and certainly cost effective. No wired hookups needed is a plus. I'm going to give your way a try.

I'd like to also hear from Genos2 owners on if, and  how they use the built in USB Audio Interface for recording.
Or if anyone else has a way to record without a PC sound card?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a specific external USB Audio Interface to use with keyboards that don't have that feature built in?

Again, appreciate your recommendation Drake, and look forward to more suggestions.
