Songbook+ SX920 Not working [Now working]

I recently switched from a PSR-S910 to a PSR-SX920 and my Songbook+ connection is no longer working as expected.  Loading a registration no longer brings up any pdf on the iPad, it stays on the Songbook+ index page or whatever page may have been previously selected manually from those stored in Songbook+.  However, from time to time pressing a one touch setting button does unexpectedly bring up a pdf display so at least I know the keyboard and iPad are still communicating.  I have not yet figured out why the OTS button triggers a Songbook+ action but thought I would post this message in hopes someone has already experienced and solved this issue.  I am using Songbook+ version 6.3.2  , iPad OS version 17.7.1  and SX920 OS version 1.10  .
It don't mean a thing...

jtrue,

Did you relink all your registrations on the new keyboard to Songbook+?
Occasionally mine stops communicating and if I close Songbook+ and reopen it, it begins working again.
if nothing works contact Bauer Matthias at BauM www.baum-software.ch

Thank you, Rick.  Sorry my technical knowledge is lacking and I do not know how to relink registrations on the new keyboard to Songbook+.  Would you please tell me the needed steps?

j.,

Have your keyboard set to the Registration you want to use. Open Songbook+ and select the PDF of the sheet music you want. Tap the screen on you iPad until the blue bar shows up on the top. Click on the three dots ... to the left of MIDI. Select link song. Now when you select that Registration, the sheet music will automatically open. You can do this for all your registrations.

Here is a link to the manual.

Thank you again for the instructions and the manual.  Sorry to say things are still not working.  The manual states that after completing the linking steps "A short message is displayed to confirm successful linking" but I do not receive any such message and loading a registration still does not cause the pdf to be displayed.  Looks like I'll have to open a ticket with BauM but greatly appreciate your time and effort on my behalf.

Speaking of time and effort, if it turns out these linking steps have to be executed for every registration it will be a long and tedious task.  I have 634 pdfs in 7 Songbook books to link.  Seems like there should be an easier way (or better yet, no need at all to re-create links that have already been working for years on an earlier, related, keyboard).

jtrue,

Yes, you should get the confirmation stating that linking is complete. If I were you I would start all over. Delete the app, reinstall it and follow the manual right from the begging to make sure you are connected properly. If that doesn't work then yes a ticket with BauM is in order. They are great to work with.

634 PDF's is about half of what I have and yes relinking is a pain, but a batch relinking is not possible.

Good Luck,

Rick D.

Hi jtrue,

Please note that the new Songbook+ linking method (works with Genos and PSR-SX models) uses System Exclusive messages (Sys Ex). Therefore, please make sure that both System Exclusive Transmit and Receive are ON on the keyboard. This is the case, for example, if you activate the preset MIDI template "All Parts" on your keyboard. In addition, in Songbook+, both MIDI-In and MIDI-Out must be enabled in the MIDI Settings, and under "Easy Keyboard Control" "Control Mode YAMAHA Genos + PSR-SX ... Registrations (with link)" must be set.

By the way, this linking works automatically in both directions (Registration calls up PDF in SB+ or PDF in SB+ calls up Registration on the keyboard).

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Thank you, Chris, and thanks again Rick.  Well, this is embarrassing.  Having no luck with the good advice you provided I resolved to go over my entire rig, hardware and software, and discovered that the lightning connector on the iPad was not firmly seated. After correcting that the linking technique you provided worked like a charm and all is well. I am grateful for the community spirit of mutual help and regret the operator error in this case. Please update the Subject line to Songbook+ SX920 Now working.
