Why cant we have a minimum mandatory fee of lets say even $5 per year. I am sure I dont want this scenario of the forum shutting down ever again

Please consider this to cover atleat your basic expenses

The problem was not money. The problem was the Joe and Roger just have gotten much older.

I never saw a post by Joe or Roger that they needed some help running the site or forum.
Nor did I see a post asking for anyone to take over covering the cost of the running the site or forum.

Did you see any such post?

Drake,
I can confirm your assertion about Joe/Roger.  When I joined up, one of the first things I did was order some of the styles packages that Joe used to finance the site.  I'm not opposed to a minimum mandatory membership fee, but if the new guys can make it go without, that will be OK also. What was always amazing to me is that Joe/Roger and several others PROBABLY spent an incredible amount of time just administering the forum and its many sub-sections.

As already mentioned, money was not the problem.
Asking voluntary fees can help a website with budgetary problems, but when making it mandatory it will almost always lead to the downfall of a community. I've been an admin for quite a few websites and forums, and seen this too often.
E.g. looking at myself. I've been a member for many years. Every day, I take a quick peek at this site. Mostly less than 2 minutes, but just to see if something interesting has happened or if I can help someone. And this is a M.O. I use for dozens of websites. When a website starts asking fees, I'm out. Simple.

Dear Members,

Thanks everyone for valuable feedback. We would like to inform you that the Forum and Psr Tutorial website will continue to remain free of charge, with no paid memberships. However, if the community is agreeable, we may introduce small advertising banners in the future. Additionally, we are considering the option of adding a donation button, allowing those who wish to support and contribute towards the forum's development to do so.

We are also exploring ways to recognize and reward those who participate in donations. One idea is to reopen a special closed section, such as "Charterboards," for both past and future donors, where they can access premium materials (styles, expansion packs, MIDI files, etc.) for free.

Please feel free to share your thoughts or any suggestions you may have. We would love to hear your feedback and will take all comments into consideration.

Thank you again for your continued support.

1) You should definetly add a button for donation.
2) There can be a paid model without ads. Free can still continue but with Ads
3) Its a wonderful idea to honour those who contribute
4) Some premium material to be accessible only to donors is a great idea

Alex,

The one thing I miss from the earlier forum is the 'charterboard' and I regularly look to see if it has been re-instated. as to fees/donations, I for one would have no issue with a donation button or even a small annual fee - but as to adverts, definitely not :(

Thanks for bringing the site back. The only feature I miss is the charter members section. Those that donated were given special access to files not available to those who did not donate. Not complaining, but some of us donated right before the forum shutdown, and now those special files appear to be gone. Oh well such is life, it is what it is, just happy to have the forum back.

Hi Alex,

I think the charter boards is a great idea, and I'd love to see it return. That was one of the reasons l became a site supporter. I think it's  a good way to raise some funds from members who would like to benefit from the contents of the charter boards.

Kind regards,

Russ
