Does the Genos 2 both play wave files and mp3

Yes it does.

The MP3 file however must be at the standard bit rate. If you make them at a lower bit rate they won't be recognized (as I recall).

If your using Audacity to convert your wav file to an MP3 file, just remember to use the programs default setting and you will have no issues.
