Thinking of purchasing the above styles collection for my E433.
I know their are some styles dedicated to the more expensive keyboards but are the majority going to work on my board?. Has anyone else used it?

Hi Mick,

Here is a link to the style collection you mentioned:
>>> https://psrtutorial.com/cdrom/stylescd18.html

Where did you get the information that "the majority going to work on my board" (E433)?

I don't see any indication of (good) compatibility with PSR-E models on the linked page. I don't have this collection, but I'm afraid that many of these styles would have to be manually edited in order to be used on the E433.

It is possible that many of these style files are too large for the E433. I couldn't find any information about this in the E433 manual, but many PSR-E models only support style files up to a maximum of 50 KB. In addition, only SFF1 styles are supported, but many styles in this pack can be in SFF2 (SFF GE) format.

Best regards,
Chris

Oh okay...there's no mention of it not being compatible to the E series but I bow to your knowledge. Only SFF1 styles can be used.
Is their a style collection for the E Series?
Prefer oldies stuff.

Have found a you tube from a morrie reece..he loads styles from a Tyros to a E463..I realise their would be many more voices on the Tyros.
Just wondering if they could be loaded to an E433?

ChrisH

Hi Mick

I had an E373 and it could only load about 5 styles into memory BUT ask the "other Chris" (overover) who is an expert if the E series can load styles and play them direct from a USB I know mine could only load  into user styles 201 - 205 so I sold it cos it was really a pain loading 5 styles then deleting them and loading another 5
Most S series arranger keyboards have a USB button so you can choose a style off the USB and play it!! (Limited on the lower arrangers 550 and 650 to around 400 styles)

Check out the OTS forum for some awesome oldies style collection posted there!

Okay Chris that's obviously the better way to go.
Thanks for the tip on the OTS for some styles.
Cheers Mick

Hey Mick, I think you should check this out ...
https://shop.usa.yamaha.com/en/p/downloadables/sound-expansion-library/voice-style-expansion-packs/vibraciones-latina-for-psr-e473

For the free "Vibracion Latina Style Pack for E373/E473" you don't have to use the annoying download method via the Yamaha account. I posted the corresponding direct download links here some time ago: :)

Thanks Chris .. Just for interest the guy I sold my E373 to also would like to know if you can play style files direct from a USB or can only the arranger series do that?

I looked at the manual and didn't see any "usb" button like my S650 has so it's really easy to press the USB button and all your external sty files show up on screen and which ever you highlight will play!

Mick??   This ap will play STY files BUT they might sound completely different compared to your keyboard.  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.audiosdroid.arrangerkeyboard&hl=en&pli=1

Ta Chris...I have saved a few .sty files to my phone but for some reason I can't open them to listen.
Any thoughts?

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, the E373 does not have a USB-to-Device terminal for directly connecting a USB stick, but only a USB-to-Host terminal for connecting to a computer or smart device.

To load new styles, you must first transfer them from the computer to the E373, with Storage Mode (Function 056) set to ON. A total of around 1.4 MB of files can be transferred to the instrument.

To play a transferred style file to the E373, you need to register (load) it to one of the style numbers 206 - 215 before using it on the instrument (Function 057 StyleReg). In addition, only SFF1 styles (extension .STY) up to a maximum size of 50 KB are supported. So Yamaha makes it quite difficult to use new styles on these entry-level models.

I'll let the new owner know ..even for SFF1 styles I did find it too much of a chore to load only 5 new styles at a time so the purchase of an older (but arranger S650) was a huge asset as I can put a generous selection of songstyles on a USB and play them without any deleting/loading new ones.  The E series are neat keyboards but I found myself restricted without button transpose and octave shift and of course making up a decent size "gig USB"

Thanks again for the technical update!!

Hi Chris,

With the E373 you can register/load 10 new styles at the same time (style numbers 205 - 215). But this procedure, which I think is unnecessarily complicated these days, would be a deal breaker for me too.
