Hi All
Just joined. What a great resource!
I have a question as a newbie to the PSR SX600 and the forum.

My PSR SX600 seems to be continually adding styles to voices I select.
For example, a guitar voice has a vibrato/tremlo, or something, added to it as well as some strings backing. So I can't just have the straight sound of the voice, there's already an effect added to it.Tried all sorts but can't seem to remove the styles/effects.
It's probably something simple that I've inadvertently pressed or checked.
This is happening with every voice....  ::)
Any clues?

Thanks in advance

Kim, I think you mean it is adding 'effects' to the voice, not styles. You can't add styles to a voice.
If you are completely new to the arranger keyboards, you may not realize that there is a function called OTS and you may have it on. That is likely where these edited voices are coming from. There is a button on the keyboard which switches this on and off.
When active, this function pre selects voices with styles and style variations that have been set up by the style programmer. The voices will often have been altered with effects.
You don't have to use this function, some people like it, some don't. If you make sure it is off, then you can select your own voices, and add, or not add, your own effects and edits to the voice.
If you like the the overall function OTS provides, you don't have to use the voices already set, you can also make your own OTS selections. This means you can select any voice you like with or without effects, and save them in the OTS.
I will not try to explain how you do this here, it would take too long, but you can find that information in the manual or by visiting the tutorial section on this site,
Mike

Hi Kim --

As Mike already mentioned, I think you're referring to the (DSP) effect which is added to nearly every voice.

If you would like to change or eliminate the effect, then it's time to learn about the SX600 mixer. :) It is described in Chapter 8 of the SX600 Reference Manual PDF. DSP effects specifically are addressed starting on page 87.

One thing which is nice about these arrangers -- we can change most anything.

Have fun -- pj

P.S. Welcome to the Forum!

Thanks PJ

After fiddling around it seems it's not the OTS....

The odd thing is it didn't happen straight away. All the sounds were "normal" to start with. Only after a while of playing it did the effects start happening.
It also only seems to be happening on the stringed instruments. It certainly hasn't happened on any of the keyed instruments. ...or brass, I think.

I'll give your suggestions a shot.

Thanks again
