Anyone (maybe from Mexico) who has already tested the new Piano expansion? This expansion was made by Yamaha.

I checked that this new expansion does not exist for Genos2, it is only for the SX900/SX700.
I only have the SX600 and Genos, I wanted to know if the quality is good, I haven't found any videos on YouTube yet related to this expansion.

Note. This expansion was released at Yamaha Mexico for newsletter subscribers

I don't see anything about it on the Yamaha U.S. website. Is there a link to the pack?

Hi dsvroland,

Can you post a link to the page where this pack was originally announced at Yamaha Mexico?

Do you have the original download link (e.g in a form like "download.yamaha.com/files/tcm:39-..." or "mx.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/...")?

Best regards,
Chris

Hi overover, the download was provided by e-mail and was only for newsletter subscribers, there are other Mexican Expansions without an official Yamaha download page, for example: Fiesta Versatil Style Expansion Pack. (In this case, again, was released only for newsletter subscribers)

I'm adding the e-mail screenshot below, I was even more curious, because the email description makes reference to an expansion of "Mariachi", however, the download links are only for pianos. I'm also adding the translation from Spanish to English:

Enjoy the benefits of belonging to the Yamaha Music community and download this super pack of styles with versatile music for your PSR-SX keyboards.
We have renewed the classic mariachi package by adding drums and percussion, improving the mix to give it more presence, rhythm and flavor, thus obtaining a totally new sound.

Hello!

Very interesting! Is there a link where I can download the SX900 version, I think the SX700 version doesn't work on my SX900 keyboard?

Many thanks in advance, if you can help me!

Yes, unfortunately a cpf, so it will only work on the target model. But still very cool nonetheless, thanks DSV!
(which always make me think of seaQuest DSV)

*edit* tried installing to our sx700

The 120mb C3 is a bit pointless (the built in CFX sounds much better).

However, the Nashville piano (105mb) isn't bad; it's a bright acoustic with a built-in synth pad. Both have some odd progamming: rather than quickly fade off the last part of the sample? it just stops. At about 10 seconds. So, no using the sustain pedal folks!

Yes, it even does this if you press the sustain button. The notes ring on and then just abruptly stop, rather hilariously :p

So unfortunately I can't see this pack being anything more than a curiosity.

Hi Roland,

this seems to be the link to the SX700 version again. Could you please post a link for the SX900 version?

So unfortunately I can't see this pack being anything more than a curiosity.

We appreciate you trying these pianos for us. I will pass on this, and anyway my expansion on the 900 is maxed out.

Anyone still looking for a cheap low memory piano expansion for SX, I still recommend PlaysoundsUSA's C7 piano, available as a single sound pack. While it's nowhere near a high end piano, it to me has a deeper fuller stronger sound than the preset and works well with a compressor effect and also in combination with pads voices. I use it in addition to the preset, not instead of. They also have one called CFX but I prefer the C7. I guess it's enough to hold me over on pianos until I get the Genos2 someday  :)

Yamaha de México (I'm Mexican but I live in the USA) is making some very "interesting" decisions (note the sarcasm).

They have significantly lowered the quality of their latest expansion packs compared to other countries. For example, one of the latest packs they released contains samples with reverb included in the note sample itself. When asked why they didn't create a version of that pack for the Genos, with more sounds and samples, they argued that it's to avoid using too much memory on other keyboards (like the SX700, for instance). But sampling with reverb included actually takes up more memory!
Additionally, you can't edit the reverb to apply the one you prefer. And now there's this issue with this piano expansion pack—an expansion pack with defects!

It's worth noting that, as far as I've researched, Yamaha de México is the only Yamaha branch that hasn't released expansion packs with Super Articulation sounds. Other countries may include some SuperArticulation sounds in their packs, but not in the ones from Mexico.

Do we need to raise our voices and demand higher quality from Yamaha LatinAmerica?

All the latest Latin American packs are not recorded with much detail, there are no MegaVoice sounds, no S.Art voices. According to their creators, as they are giving it to you for free you shouldn't complain but well it's ok, so please make a version that costs but make it good.

For example there is a pack that Yamaha released with Colombian rhythms but there are no samples of a Honner Accordeon, Caja Vallenata or Guacharaca, which are some of the typical instruments that are used on Colombian music, I am not Colombian and I know that. How is it possible that Yamaha doesn't know or doesn't put it in the package?

And the worst of all is that on top of not making good packages, or premium packages as they call good quality packages, they do not allow you to make good quality sounds, in YEM it is impossible to create MegaVoices, SA or SA2 voices. I really don't understand why!
