Genos 2 screen

Could someone with a Genos 2 please tell me if the screen has changed from the older style, resistive screen to a more tablet style screen
now, which is capacitive like wersi sonic range of instruments.

it is a brand new panel, but with the same technology and feel as the previous G and the montange/modx.
no multitouch or gesture support like you might find on a tablet.
on related topic.
i find adjusting the on-screen faders to be very tricky.  when attempting to drag them up or down they often get stuck and the numeric number pad appears which is a bit irritating.
it seems to work better if you tap the fader and then use the data wheel.

Thank you for the reply, it is crazy in this day and age why they would not go down the route of capacitive touch screen,
you can get a 10-inch touch screen android tablet for £61 on Amazon, if the cheapest tablets and phone can have capacitive screen why can't Yamaha do that, all other screens on other keyboards as far as I am aware that are touch are capacitive.

Well, Yamaha has always been very conservative when it comes to displays.

The screen is now anti glare and is a lot clearer mov under bright light.

Thanks, Kurt. Depends on Yamaha's choice of embedded host processor, too. Genos1 uses the integrated display support system in the Sitara AM4376. A limitation? Another pressure point is multi-touch support in Linux.

Not trying to make excuses, but there are a few other factors involved.

yeah, even more surprising that the screen didn't get an update in the new montage, the screen tech felt already quite old when the original montage was released.

but at the end of the day, it works well and is good enough i suppose. as long as you don't compare it to an ipad, it'll be fine.   just get over it.

@pjd, you are right. But it reminds me of my PSR-S900 from 2008. At that time there would have been displays with better viewing angle dependence "for a few dollars more". But now the display stopped working anyway.

I really wish I could take a peek at the service manuals for both Montage M and Genos2. I'm quite curious to see what has changed.

I doubt if the manuals are available through Yamaha 24x7 at this time. Means that I'll have to call. Having a tooth extracted today, so it may be a while...

Not surprising because Yamaha tries to control distribution and access to service manuals. Eventually, service manuals do escape to the Internet.

Yamaha policy blows hot and cold on willingness to sell manuals. Authorized service techs can get them. Last time I called and requested a service manual, I kind of got hassled. Oh, well.
