Hello people, does anyone know why Yamaha never released a pack of Vangelis or Kitaro??? Beyond having two or three repetitive styles like Conquest of Paradise, Antarctica, or Chariots of Fire, there is nothing, right??? I'm not looking well there.

Greetings

hi Walter,
I think the main reason would be, because that's not really an entertaining genre of music. Don't get me wrong: I do like Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, J.M.Jarre, etc. kind of music. But that's not the music I would play to entertain others... they would probably be bored to death ;D
Such music can be interesting for presentations (to impress the audience for short period of time), or as background music, but that's pretty much it.
Anyway, I think that those who prefer performing such music (making concerts actually), look more towards synthesizers than arrangers.

Just sharing my thoughts,

Thanks Bogdan, each person has their tastes and they are respectable, I make all kinds of music and there are many that I don't like but users have to have more options and not just to entertain others, music is music, I don't think it's good or boring just that there are different musical tastes and what may be boring for some may be fun for others. In any case, Yamaha hasn't released new packs for a long time except for the music ones for the Middle East, it won't be such a good business to make new styles anymore, they have been repeating the same styles for different models for several years.

Thank you for your words.

I completely agree on that -the word "recycling" is quite often used in this regard  :)

Hi Walter,

I probably have some similar music tastes as you and also like a variety. I only play old standards (jazz, rock, ballads) about 10% of the time on my SX900. I''ll take the opposite position from Bogdan and say that these entertaining old standard genres bore me to death after a while, but still are enjoyable to play once in a while. The other 80% I like playing orchestral movie scores, symphonic electronic, some Classical and some new age etc. and I don't entertain anybody but myself with that.

The SX900 has been great, but I recently re-acquired a MODX+ again to experiment with modern arpeggio pattern accompaniment. Yamaha certainly is not going to make arranger packs geared to this more niche interest and not sure what other Vangelis pieces they would do anyway, Bladerunner? I suggest taking a look at what Easy Sounds offers for both Yamaha arrangers (Dreamscapes pack) and Montage/MODX synths (Ambient Soundscapes pack). Also you can message me to see if we can swap some styles in this genre, as I have a few "frankenstein" styles I made that fall along the lines of Kitaro's Silk Road Fantasy, although most of them lack the full 4 variations.

Hello Rico, apparently we have similar musical tastes and like you, I like to play for myself.
I have made some free styles for movies, as soon as I have some free time I will send them to you to see if they help you. In case the voices I have used do not work for your keyboard, you will only have to replace those voices using the style creator.

Here I leave you a link with songs that use the styles created and modified by me. If you like them I will send them to you.

Hi Walter,

Those are great. Some of those remind me of composer Thomas Bergersen who does film work. I sent you a message.

IMHO, Walter is a genius when it comes to his style creation and his performances on an arranger keyboard. In the few years I have known him, he has never ceased to amaze me.

All the best,
