The Yamaha factory styles in Genos 2 have some of the same limitations, I disliked in the PSR 9000.
4 fill ins only, so the new variation is introduced by the same pattern, what you use within the variation. Not good, no real drummer would play like this.
The styles are short, 4 bars only. So the virtual band sounds like professionals, but musicians, who doesn't really like, what they do.
My Ketron has 8 or 16 bar patterns, I let it run and the drummer does everything I want and it feels way more like a real musician.
So I would expect from Yamaha... but they didn't do it, when they introduced the Tyros line, they didn't do it, when the Genos came. Why should they, when Genos 3 is developed?

Only 4 Fills?  That's the same limitation on PA1000/PA700 etc (but yes, the PA4x had 8 fill buttons).

AS for the 4 bar loops, yes true, they're usually coded that way; but the option for 128 bar styles exists; meaning custom styles, etc. I've done styles with 18 bar loops (Axel F), for example. I'm sure there *are* presets with 8 bar loops, but it would take me some time to find! I've also done styles that are literally just 1 measure long! (Final Fantasy VI, Pirates of the Caribbean)

This *is* a very valid criticism though (longer patterns), and I will bring it up with Yamaha the next time we speak. But as for the 4 fill ins (technically 5 if you use the break), there are only 2 options: either code intro 1/2/3 as a fill (how often do you need more than 1 intro?) *or* use registrations to switch up with different versions of a style with different fill ins.

This one is hardware based, but they're also locked into backward compatibility (Ketron isn't, btw... they don't mind making a new model that's not backwards compatible, which gives them more flexibiltiy, true), so this one is less likely to happen as an OS update. If they had included a shift button, then maybe, but as it stands, you're best to either reprogram intro 1/2/3, or use registrations to switch different versions of the style on the fly with their own fills.
