Do Your Ears Hear Sound Differently Some Days ?...If Yes think yourself very lucky.

Being involved with high quality Hi-Fi sounds is a large part of my life and has made some of us more critical than most.
This is not a criticism because this experience brings benefits of which I feel privileged.
When I state my ears change from day to day, others don't understand how that can happen.
Simply one's health can change within a short time daily but most are not aware of it.
Somedays I make sound adjustments to a style. The following day I often questioned the adjustments I made.

Yes, mine do sometimes (I'm 74).
There are some days when the same piece of musics seems to be a bit more bass heavy than on other days.

This would explain why some days I only hear about half of what my wife asks me to do .... but most days it's much less than half :D

Hello!

I'm 64 and always praised my good hearing.  I also consider myself an amateur audiophile always searching for great quality audio.  Since being diagnosed with COPD two years ago I have been plagued with re-occurring earaches and infections. The last one took forever to go away, but was the most serious one so far. My left ear was so swollen inside no medicine could get thru the ear canal. It affected my balance too!

At this moment my hearing seems its normal self. I think some of my EQ issues with Genos2 was from that lingering ear infection. I haven't played around with any settings lately. Genos2 seems to sound better as time goes by. Now I only mix stuff during these remissions hoping my settings aren't tainted by my hearing issues. I have always took my good hearing for granted. But it can be a serious problem when it isn't there. I don't even want to think about it becoming a permanent loss.  Best wishes.  -charley

Perfectly normal. And hearing loss comes with age. I have improved my hearing a lot by starting to use hearing aids!!

I just had a hearing test last week and they told me I need hearing aids. The Dr explained that it is just like your eyes, they get worse with age.  He said you start out with 20/20 vision but I bet that's not true now. So I said, you are completely wrong, I'm 78 but my eyesight is 20/20 because last month I had cataract surgery on both.  It took less than 10 minutes per eye, was completely painless and I had 20/20 vision again within two days - not to mention that the world was now in full technicolor. Why can't you guys do that for my ears!
He just laughed and said the best Xmas present I can get my wife this year would be hearing aids for me so she doesn't have to keep repeating herself!

I agree completely.  Sometimes when I listen to my mix of a style I change it after listening to it a couple of times.  I think when we mix a style it depends on the mood we are in at the time. On a second or third hearing of it sometimes I think it needs some adjustments to style Part Voices, volumes or panning or even changing the Left/Right Voices or Multi Pads assigned to the OTS.

Many times I have spent so much time splitting hairs on setting up voices and tweaking sounds, only to wonder the next day what the heck I was thinking?! So whatever I end up with, MUST pass my next-day-listen test when my ears are fresh.

I have concluded that working with sound can be a lot like shopping for perfumes:  After sniffing 2 or 3, you really don't know what your smelling after that.

I am 72 and about 5 years ago, I had my right ear blocked with wax. I went to a specialist to have it looked at and he spent about 30 minutes digging out the wax. He said he had never seen such a small ear canal as I had.

He suggested I have my hearing tested which I did. That specialist said she was totally surprised at my hearing level for my age. I had only a very slight loss at the highest pitch level.

To answer the question, nope, I don't notice any difference at all. Once I set up a custom song style and balance it out, it is set.

I didn't own hearing aids until  about a year ago, and was very happy with them ; BUT i always took them off when I played my PSR 970 because all of my favorite styles sounded terrible.  It was very inconvenient, but I persisted  in doing that  for most of 2003 UNTIL a  few days ago , I read an article on how you can train your brain. So, a few days ago I started wearing my hearing aids whilst playing my PSR 970 and I can report that as each day goes by, my favorite styles  are sounding quite good. I think that in a day or two I think that they will sound even better.

Same here! First they sounded tinny, but now the sound is rich and full. I also got a music program for my hearing aids. Must ads have dfferent lstening programs nstalled, and these can also be adjsted by your audiologist.
