SO G2 supports audio over USB

-  finally -

But does anyone here know whether its just a STEREO output over USB or stereo + MULTICHANNEL outs -  as is the case for the DGX 670 ?

BogdanH

It's stereo (Owner's manual: specifications).

Real shame.

And a shirt sighted missed opportunity imo.

Had there been a built in multi-out facility - like in the MONTAGE and MODX series - the Geno2 could have become useful for songwriting, composers etc. Because if one is to use the sounds and instruments in GENOS as part of ones own material in a DAW - one needs to be able to process each instrument track output separately in a USB connected DAW for final processing ( EQ etc ) and mixing down.

Multi-outs dont cost much extra - given the 5k price tag - and are even found in sub1k Uamaha boards like the DGX.

I didn't check, but are you sure DGX has multi-channel audio interface?
I ask because as far I know, no arranger has it -there's only multichannel midi, which every decent keyboard has.

There is a genuine cost concern here.

Montage (gen 1) has the equivalent of a Steinberg UR-series audio interface built-in. There is an additional processor (SSP2) to handle the USB audio channels. Genos1 does not have this extra processor and I doubt if Genos2 has it.

Wish I had the Genos2 service manual -- pj

P.S. My message crossed with Bogdan's and I do believe he is correct for the same reason.  :)
