Hi,

Can anyone remeber what happened to the price of the Genos 1 after it came out. Did it go up or down in the following months?

Still deciding between a new Genos 2 or a second hand Genos?

I can quite a good price on one obvoiusly cheaper then a trade in  but still a lot of money!!

I do like the 5 year warrentty of the new model, and of course the new features?

thanks

I can't be absolutely certain but I think it stayed around £4,200 for a good while, and then fell a bit after the initial rush had passed. The new G2 price  will probably settle to around £4,500 or maybe lower after a few months.A lot depends on how well it is selling.

Seems to be selling very well at the moment.

Has anyone bought from A&C Hamilton as they have quoted me a balance which is £600 cheaper than other UK suppliers using a Genos 1 as a trade-in which seems to be too good to be true.

Promenade Music in Morecambe have the G2 advertised at £3999

I have placed an order with a £100 refundable deposit and the price for the G2 on its own was £4399. Awaiting stock collection before making payment.

Four stages of sales:

1. First you get the rush to buy the product no matter what
Top price.

2. Second you get the undecided take it or leave it type with a price drop of  £200-300 off rrp. & sales. 3-6 months after.

3. Then tail enders before they release a cheaper low specification board without bells and whistles. Drop about £1k 12- 24 months after, this where the final push comes in, software bonuses new feature including, this cleans up the "Want one but cannot afford it or I'm not paying that type"

4. Competition forces lower price, offers, deals, markets etc. A settling around £3.5k or lower 36 months in.

It can go lower based on market conditions, retailers markups etc or new product. Remember C19 delayed the release by 1-2 years.

Everyone wants a new toy so it if you think it's worth it or can afford it, or second hand. Same with new cars etc. Professional musicians don't use arrangers or very little. G1 & G2 is aimed at the home user mainly.

If that is correct I would say it is the best I've  seen, did they quote you that ? and do they accept trade-ins ? It is best to talk with them to find exactly what the deal is .
I went with A&C Hamiltons because I was happy with deal they offered me,including free delivery and free extra content, whatever that turns out to be ?

Yes that is a fantastic price, wonder what the Promenade after sales support is like ? I'm purchasing outright as A&C wouldn't give me the PX price I needed for the SX700.

I might call Promenade tomorrow and find out what their availability is like, already dropped a £100 deposit with A&C now (for £4399 G2 price, not 100% if this is non-refundable) so wondering now whether I should go with Promenade !

An answer for Hawklord: hi I bought my genos from A C Hamilton in
Preston in 2019 and paid £3199 without a trade in. They are a great company.

Hi
I have dealt with Promenade on several occasions. Excellent to deal with.
I believe their prices are purely for cash buyers, without trade ins.
However they do offer to sell your trade ins on a solely commission basis should it suit you.

I have just found a real cheap price in Portugal. I wonder if it worth taking a cheap flight and coming back with one?

They only ship to Portugal unfortunatly.

https://www.egitana.pt/yamaha-genos-2/p/34191

3899 euros equals to £3420!!!

It just show if they are still making a profit on that what the markup is.

I think at a RRP price of £5220 so £4350 without VAT I think they dealers get them for about £2610 so £3132 with vat so even selling at 3999 they are still making about £867.

Good lord, looks like the dealers are making a bomb then with their markups. I may need to re-access and wait a few weeks to see if the price drops further below the £4k pricepoint. Is that possible with Xmas round the corner or unrealistic of me to suggest ?

Although to be fair to them there are taking a risk with a trade in so that why the trade in prices are higher. They still have to sell the trade ins.

They probably get them for even a bit less but around 100% mark up sounds about right I think. AC Hamilton were selling the Genos 1 for £3000 at one point.

When I helped in a keyboard shop I saw the bill for Yamaha keyboards that the dealer had bought- which was 60% of the RRP before VAT. That was many years ago but I think it is true.

Give or take, the Genos 2 is £1k more than I paid for my first house.     8)

And in 1967 Hammond were selling the flagship X-66 model for £5500. Many went into houses that didn't cost that much. In 1978 I sold a £15000 Kawai T-5 to a man who lived in a bungalow, smaller than the house I bought that year for £11000!
It's not what you play, it's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

That's fair enough. I mean it's all about getting the best deal. However I will be sticking with my order with ePianos, they are my favourite go to place regardless of whatever other deals appear.

I can confirm the A&C price of £4,399 plus a trade in for my Korg. It is definitely the best price out there and they are a very reliable music company.
