Good morning,

For information and to put and end to assumptions, the Genos 2 will be physically presented in the presence of demonstrators over 2 days from November 16 and 17, 2023 in a department store in the South of France.

Good day
Christian

This would tie in with Yamaha take over of the Yamaha keyboard club event at Daventry UK in November. This event was at first destined for early in November, then pushed back to 24th - 27th November. This is where, this year there is special guests Peter Baartmans and Martin Harris will perform.

Cheers Terry

If this is so , when will stores be taking orders? :) and when do you think original teasers will start? :) :)

I think some stores have been taking pre orders but I want to see what is on it first.

That sounds like Sud-Claviers...  ;)

These guys are excellent! Just look at these videos by Arnaud Delauney and Philippe Del Bano about the introduction of the Tyros 5 on YouTube, very well done! Funny and great music.

Looking forward to it! I hope they put English subtitles under their videos.

Thanks for sharing, Christian!

Hello Martin,

Indeed, it is Sud-Claviers who will make this presentation.
I would have gone there but the round trip distance is too long.

I hope that some of my friends who will go will bring me some photos or live videos..

Good evening

Hey John :

I agree with Maarten's words : it must be easy and interesting for this famous French dealer to create a video with an additional English subtitling, IMHO.

I am sure the whole world would be very grateful.  ;)

JH

Hi Friends :

Any idea what the Genos' second hand price ( € or USD ) might be when the new Genos2 will be available in the market ?
I might be very interested in adding a used Genos ( in mint condition and at a reasonable price ) to my new DGX-670.
In that case I will have the intention to sell my present Roland BK-9.

Your reactions would be very much appreciated. :)
Thanks and best regards, JH

colas musique

Hello Jeff,

In France, the average second-hand price will be around €2,500. Beyond that, I think that sellers will have more difficulty selling their devices if they want to do it quickly.

Good day
Christian

Jeff Hollande

Hi Christian :

Many thanks for your fast reply.  :)

Very interesting and useful information.
This price indication sounds very realistic to me ...

Kind regards, Jeff

musicman01

Hello, here in Belgium they still charge €2200 to €2500 for a Tyros 5 76.

I am asking €2950 for my Genos with almost 2 years of warranty left.
With sound, style and registration packs with a value of more than €1000.
My Genos is in new condition and without any signs of use with original packaging where the musicstand has not yet been used.
A price of €2500 would be very low unless it has been used a lot!!

Jeff Hollande

Hi Musicman01 :

For the time being your present selling price might be acceptable in your region ...  I do not know.

There is no Genos2 available yet.
Maybe now it is the right time to sell it very soon ?
Some other members of this Forum have sold their Genos
yet to avoid too much loss.

IMHO, as soon as the Genos2 will be sold in your local shops then your present Genos' selling ( proposed ) price might have to go down, who knows ... time will tell.

Cheers, JH

... or to go up, if Genos2 price is 5000€ ....

In my humble opion if the brand new Genos was £4,500 - £5000 i think a dealer would at least give you £2000 in part exchange and a fair selling price then would be £2,500- £2,600
For me if a keyboard is £5000 and had it six years, half price is more than fair.
Also all depends on how much if the Genos has been gigged and there would be tell tale signs all over the place.

The difference in price is when you buy it through a dealer/store or privately. The companies charge service, warranty and VAT and their fixed costs. That in itself is completely legitimate and logical. When you buy a Genos privately you save hundreds of euros/dollars. Only you have NO service, warranty and you pay no VAT. The price for a used Genos will not drop much than the current market. Then you have to wait another 2/3 years. Then a Genos1 is almost 10 years old and the Genos II is already selling well. The trade-in price for an old Genos is not comparable to the market value. No dealer wants to take a financial risk and will therefore in principle not want to trade in an old Genos, or for a very low price. This is also closely related to the purchase price of the Genos II. It is important for the retailer how much margin/profit he can earn from Yamaha. I expect the price of the Genos II to be well above the retail prices of its competitors. Especially the first few months, the first batch. A need has been created by the lack in time of launching the Genos II, and Yamaha wants to exploit that. C'est la vie  ;)
My best regards,
Ton

I completely agree with you, even though £2000 doesn't feel like it's enough either, but I think it would be best case scenario. I bought mine last year, and paid full price for it new and it's absolutely immaculate, I would have a hard time parting with it for just £2000 even if it were towards a Genos2, I may even decide to keep the Genos and just try and find the other 2k somewhere else instead. Maybe it's because I only bought my Genos last year rather than 5 or so years ago (blame the SX900 for that lol) so I am more reluctant to let it go so soon.

It's a tough one though, and I know this is something we'd be faced with at some point.

Joke: A good "presentation of the Genos II" by Vangelis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUoL6Jtj4Lo
It seems he was able to play his music live on his "Genos II" ;) keyboard ....

Hi Danny
I would keep the Genos since you have purchased it recently and it all depends how deep you want to go.
If you just love playing the Genos 1 would be perfect.
On the other hand if you want the best you will have to find the extra money.
We all make mistakes buying things and that word comes to mind . "What If"!! :-[ "What shall I do"! :-\
My way of thinking is, have if you can afford it because you cannot take it with you.

If you were to sell your Genos, you should get an above price selling privately showing when you purchased it with receipts.
Your keyboard may still be in Guarantee :)

All the Best
John :) :)

So it seems that they are doing away with the usual pre-release fanfare and teasers and going straight for the release?

There's still time between now and November 16th for techno accordion demos. I heard that Yamaha hired Weird Al.  ;D

Nah, really? You are just "Yanking" my leg!

Dealers in the UK will also be having these meetings to let them know exactly what they will be selling.

A well known Dutch retailer/dealer has Genos listed as 'out of assortment' / 'can no longer be ordered'

https://www.bax-shop.be/nl/keyboards/yamaha-genos-76-toetsen-keyboard-workstation

Another sign on the wall/confirmation that a successor is coming .... ?

(I have never figured out how to include an image in the text on this forum, so the image (in Dutch)  is attached ... (in case they change the webpage)
