Locking Attack Settings control

Is it possible to lock the attack settings on the live control 1 knob. ?
I am a novice player. I have a very light touch I don't bash the keys like Dr K. I like to have then attack settings at about - 20 to 30. However when I change vacation or style, that setting just resets its self to the default. I have looked in the parameter lock sections and cannot find a way to do this.

Try changing your touch curve setting to a softer one. Try soft or soft2. this is a global setting and will stay there.

Hi Geoff,

The "Attack" parameter (Category "Voice Edit"), which can be assigned to a Live Control Knob, has nothing to do with playing strength. "Attack" here means "Attack Time", and just like in Voice Edit, this only adjusts the length of time until the selected parts reach their maximum level after the key is played. You can turn this function on or off for each keyboard part at the bottom of this display.

For example, you could make a hard Pick Bass sound softer by setting a slightly longer attack time so that the attack sound, i.e. the pick noise, is no longer audible.


In order to achieve a relatively high volume even with a relatively light touch (light playing strength), set the Initial Touch curve to "Soft2", as Eileen already mentioned.


By the way, you can memorize the assigned Live Control Knob settings in Registrations (if "Live Contol" checkbox is ticked). For example, many users work with one or more "Setup Registrations" that can be used to quickly call up preferred settings. If the normal playing Registrations do NOT contain Live Control settings, the latter will not be changed when switching Registrations.


Alternatively, you can use the FREEZE function to ensure that the Live Control settings in the current session are not accidentally changed by Registrations:

- Press "Direct Access > Freeze" to bring up the Freeze settings

- Make sure only "Live Control" is ticked and close the settings display (touch the X icon or press EXIT button) to save the settings.

- Make sure that the Freeze button is switched off and make the desired Live Control settings (e.g. by calling up a corresponding Setup Registration).

- Now activate the Freeze button (LED lights up) to lock the current Live Control settings.


P.S.
But note, applying Freeze will only lock associated Live Control functions, not the changed settings made for specific Parts/Voices.

Changes to Voices cannot be made "globally", you would have to edit each individual voice as desired (in Voice Edit) and then save it as a so-called "User Voice". Alternatively, modified voices can also be saved directly in Registrations.

Another thought: If the keyboard voices are automatically changed when you switch the Main Variations, you probably have the OTS LINK function activated. I recommend working with Registrations instead. If you want to continue working with OTS (One Touch Settings), you can memorize new voice settings on the OTS buttons if required. In order to save this, you have to save the STYLE again.

Thanks Chris for your in-depth explanation. I will set up a preferred generic setup registration with my preferences on it. I will also trying doing it by the freeze function method.i am just trying to introduce some subtlety and expression into my playing.my playing sounds a bit plinky plonk at times
