I am struggling to get suitable EQ setting on my Genos with a Bose sound system. I play mainly country and sixties songs.
Hope someone can give some settings.
Thanks,
DaveD

hi Dave,
I think nobody can do that for you, because it depends on your taste and also depends on the room where you're playing. Someone might say "this is the setting I like" -but that setting only works for him at certain conditions.
In short: it's something you need to do by yourself. And when the system sounds to your liking, then it can be good idea to ask a friend (or family member) about his/her opinion -because many times, we tend to push level sliders too far  :)

BogdanH, I understand settings are subjective but I really wanted settings as a starting point.
Fred, thanks for the useful thread. I will try the EQ Gold and work from there.

I tried to save the "Gold" setting in "Mixer/EQ", "Master".  I press the "hard disk" icon, enter "Gold" in the keyboard dialog box.

Gold is now one of the choices I have from the 8 band EQ screen.

The problem is that after shutting down the keyboard, "Gold" is gone, and back to user1 without any of my settings.

I've tried this with "Utility", "Parameter Lock", "Master EQ" checked and unchecked.  It never saves my settings across a reboot.

Interestingly, it does properly save the compressor settings.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Parameter lock will not save the settings, but you can save them into a registration and recall them from there with a single push of a button. Unfortunately, parameter lock is only active while the keyboard is turned on. As soon as it is turned off, the keyboard reverts to original settings. After turning on the keyboard, select the registration with the gold settings, then go to parameter lock to anchor them in place while you are playing.

Good luck,

Thanks for the explanation Gary.  I am just trying to save my master EQ settings.  Even though I follow the instructions in the reference manual precisely, the settings I save do not survive a reboot.

As an example, if I save my settings under the name "Gold", I can select and use any of the presets, or "Gold", and they become my EQ settings.  But after rebooting the keyboard, "Gold" is just gone.  So It was apparently never actually saved to non-volatile memory.

I only mentioned the parameter lock because it is unclear to me whether that might prevent me from saving the master EQ settings to non-volatile memory.

Thanks,
  Craig

P.S.

CAUTION: The following may contain some gratuitous whining!!

I should also mention that I have an open case with Yamaha support about the Search function on my keyboard.  Search doesn't work, as the indexes have become corrupt, and never get deleted.  So search looks for, and finds, files in folders and drives that don't exist.  Support is bumping this ticket up to development they say.

Another function that doesn't work any more is auto shutoff.  I have it set to 30 minutes, but my keyboard never shuts off.

Now I'm never sure whether it's me not doing something properly, or something that's happened to my keyboards' operating system.

You have to set up and then save to a User section EQ for it to stay in the keyboard.
Select a User say User two and then name and save.

Hi,
When I use my Genos through my Bose system I have the EQ set to Flat and the compressor set also to flat, Seems to sound ok to me. My Bose system is the L1s with B2 bass speaker. Hope this helps.

when I had the L1 PAS and a single sub, I used one of the default settings on the Bose and I believe it was #55, but not sure.

Additionally, I used the following EQ settings on my S-950:

EQ1 4
EQ2 2
EQ3 2
EQ4 4
EQ5 8

This provided some great bottom end and the highs sizzled.

Give it a try,
