Explore those menus

At the start of 2023 I set myself a small task.
Quite simple really, but it has given me a much better understanding of my SX-700 keyboard.
The task, which I'm still doing, is to click on each menu item, and having done that, to then explore all the sub menus that are within the main category.
Sure, I've got the manuals, owners, reference and data, but reading them in conjunction with the menu itself has been so so revealing.
You soon realise what work has gone into making these keyboards truly amazing.

That sounds like a really good idea.  I have fairly recently gone into that Menu "thingy" and have found several items on there of interest but had previously been afraid of pressing anything in that category as I didnt understand most of them.   I do like the Registration sequence one which I discovered on my previous keyboard and I felt terribly clever when I first set a song up on that.   You've set me a new task now!!!  Thanks for posting.

Hi Irene
Use this tip.
Before you alter or adjust anything, take a quick photo on your mobile phone. That way, you can always return to your original settings, without having to do a full reset which of course is possible.
I get, exactly what you say... Some of the setting menus are quite intimidating.
Hope that helps
Keith.  :)

Ah that's a good idea.  I recently watched a video of Jimmy See (???I think) demo'ing my keyboard and was showing how to use the live control knobs which I have never used as not entirely sure what to do with them and on it he first set the sound to something (cant quite remember what) like "mute left off" and similar with the right switch.  i duly did this and fiddled about but then couldn't remember what the original setting was.  Several switching on and off didn't produce anything and panic mode set in but then I remembered the Owners and Reference manuals and the answer was there!!!
If all else fails --follow the instructions!!!!!!
Thanks for the tip Keith

I have been preaching this for decades. Sit down at the keyboard with user manual along side and go through each and every menu, step by step, and you will be amazed at just how much your keyboard can do and offers. This took me several months to accomplish with each and ever keyboard I have ever owned, but it was well worth the time and effort. In fact, before taking a new keyboard on the road to be used on stage, it usually took me about 3 months to set up everything and be comfortable with the features so that I could seamlessly go from one song to the next, thus keeping my audiences on the dance floor and if they did not dance, entertained.

Good luck,
