Hi Eileen.
Thank's for the info.
Your heading for the topic should be corrected, it's v. 2.9.0.  😊

I didn't know a new Electone exists
ELA-1. (Only for Asia, I think)

interesting to discover if it is based on Genos technology or not.

These Electone models appear to be more like the PSR range in terms of their features and capabilities. The main difference is that they have 2 keyboards + pedal board. Some have a touchscreen, but it's a different look and feel to the CVP / SX / Genos OS.

One of the models actually has onboard editing of the 8 voice elements. We (in PSR / Genos land) don't get that - it would be a very nice to have enhancement. Maybe next time, Yamaha ...

All Genos users can benefit from Yamaha streamlining its separate electone line with Genos-based technology.
More resources will be available for Genos developments.

V.2.8.1 to V2.9.0
Now supports the ELA-1.
Solved some other minor problems.

V2.9.0 solved some other minor problems that will hopefully be of benefit when working with the Genos. Electone, notwithstanding. I'll install the new version but if I encounter a problem you guys will be the first to hear about it. Oh, Btw...

Korg released a new OS update for the Pa5X recently. Unfortunately, it was not as comprehensive as people had hoped. There are still many missing features/functions and apparently still a lot of bugs too. People on Korg Forums are up in arms and some have suggested a lawsuit against Korg for its half-baked product. Make that a 1/4 baked product.  ;D Yamaha of course sees what's going on and has probably decided to ease up on the development of its new arranger flagship probably waiting until the end of 2024 to finally release the Genos 2. The supply chain & parts crises combined with stubbornly high inflation will have undoubtedly contributed to the delay. FWIW, Yamaha generally releases its flagship Workstation keyboard about a year before releasing its flagship Arranger equivalent. If the past is prologue, and Yammie releases a new Montage like they recently did with the MODX+, in 2023, they'll probably wait around a year after that before releasing the Genos 2. In other words, the same scenario as with the current Montage (2016) and current Genos (2017).

All the best,
Mike
