Hi all,

What are the rules of transposition used for a multipad pattern ?

For example,  I have a multipad pattern written on a CMaj7 chord. If I want to change the lower (or higher)  limit of transposition, how to proceed ?

Does that change anything, if I transpose the MIDI pattern from CMaj7 to FMaj7 or GMaj7 ?

It depends on the Chord Match setting.

If Chord Match is on, the multipad will act much like a style -- follow the chord played and transposition settings. If it's off, it won't.

I suggest you try PadMaker-Midi.  There are several Chord Match settings.  Usually this is set to #1.  The manual describes other settings. You can also transpose up or down an octave as well note length and note velocity in the editor screen.

Thanks for helping.

I use the PadMaker-Midi software, version v21r2 . When I click on Follow Chord Yes Codes, I get a blank drop list. So I can't select any setting.

Hi Luluc, I think You're asking whether Multi Pad has transposition rules at all...

As far as I understand - it doesn't, at least we can't specify anything like that. You're using a terminology of transposition rules and note limits. These notions come from style creator. Indeed, it has a CASM section which allows specifying this stuff, but for multipads there is nothing like that available.

Genos's reference manual (on page 60) even states that if we want to create a multi pad we should use C major scale, so I'm affraid you can't do much with the multipad other than specifying whether it matches thr chords or not... Adding CASM to mutipads could be a nice addition to future yamaha arrangers though :)

Contact the author,  There should be 8 codes to choose from. 1 - 4 will give variations on how the Multi Pad is transposed.  There are a couple of undefined codes that no one has figured out yet. And there are a couple of codes specific to guitar strums and arpeggios.

Joe H,

Re-installing the software PadMaker-Midi did the trick. I now get options 1,2,3,4,5 for the FollowChords feature.
