Retro to XG/GM/GS voices?

I've been a bystander for several years on the "MIDKAR.com" users group/mailing list, etc.   They would welcome MIDIs that I create (mostly hymns and southern/country gospel) but for the fact that the majority of MIDKAR members use a "soundfont" configuration called "Timbres of Heaven"  (ToH) created/maintained by member Don Allen.   Generally speaking, ToH is XG/GM/GS and apparently has strong roots in Roland.  The net result is almost anything that we create on Yamaha keyboards doesn't sound very good if you play them back via a ToH configuration.    Changing the mega voices helps some but drums/percussion is very weird sometimes.   And there are so guitars that it is hard to find good sounds.

I'm just curious to know if there is anyone in the Yamaha domain that has successfully sequenced stuff for playback on the Timbres of Heaven soundfont?

Many of the MIDKAR members who do sequence use tools like Anvil Studio or BIAB.   In my view, "that's neo-insanity" when you can create great sounding stuff with a keyboard.  Of course, many of those same folks don't play ANY instrument or perhaps play guitars or drums.

Please post of PM me if you have ideas/knowledge.   I have a Genos.

I think you will need to convert the MegaVoice Tracks to general midi, but I don't know how to do that.

If you have one of the newer PSR etc that use YEM, you can actually import a sound font to YEM and load it to the keyboard as an expansion voice. Maybe then you could record the MIDI using those expansion voices, and it might then sound better when played back using "ToH" ?

THAT is an interesting idea!
Thanks.
