Hello!

I was wondering if there is a way to connect a PSR-SX900 with an external touchscreen monitor.

Let me first say that I spent two hours reading through the forum in search of an answer and found one reference. I was about to reply to it but there was a message that said the post was older than 180 days and that I should start a new thread.

Secondly, this is not a "gimmick" for me. Because of health issues, this feature would benefit me greatly. I know that there is a way to connect an external monitor using a USB-HDMI converter and that Yamaha recommends a few of these but the manual doesn't say anything whether USB connection could be used to connect an external touchscreen. USB, after all, is a data protocol so it is capable of both sending and receiving data but is the SX900 equipped for such a connection?

Touchscreens aren't exactly commonplace and they're not cheap either so I'd buy one only if I was certain it would work. I have no use for one otherwise.

It appears that this person managed to do it with his Yamaha MODX synthesizer:

Thank you for any and all your replies!

Unfortunately this is not possible.

Unfortunatly this is not possible.

Hi Toni!

Thank you for your swift reply!

OK, so I can only use an external monitor to mirror the image shown on the instrument, right? Is there a particular USB-HDMI converter that you would recommend? The one accessible to me is the one sold by Thomann:

I really do not know. I considered an external screen because I am visually impaired, but unfortunately even an external screen does not work for me. So the solution is not using the screen for lyrics, but learning song text by heart😀

Hi Toril!

I see now that I misread your name - it is not Toni!

I am sorry to hear about the problems you're having. I have similar problems and this is why I was wondering about an external (and larger) touchscreen. Yamaha should really work on this to make it possible and to implement such a feature on cheaper keyboards as well. They need to understand that for some people, this facility is not an afterthought and is very much necessary.

Best of wishes to you,
Antun

This is the one I bought: https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Multimedia-Graphics-1920x1080-1600x1200/dp/B00BN5FI8K/ref=dp_fod_1?pd_rd_i=B00BN5FI8K&th=1

It's worked well for me.

Cheers,
Fred

Hi Fred!

Thank you for your reply! Can you please tell me what is the size of your monitor? It isn't a touchscreen but rather a "normal" screen, right?

I connect to various monitors/TVs depending on the situation. Anywhere from 24" to 70".

The Diamond converter has VGA, DVI and HDMI connections so I don't have problems with connecting to any device.
