Hello, i've seen that in some Yamaha packs we've a lot of voices that are the same; these same voices use a lot of memory! perhaps Yamaha can make an option in YEM to erase the same voices! All the best Patrick

Hi,

YEM have software <duplicate wave recognition> inside so, don't worry if you want to install many packs, used memory will be smaller.

Best regards!

Given how poorly designed YEM is (especially the godawful user interface), I'd be happy to erase YEM. I don't understand how Yamaha can make such high quality keyboards and then produce such low quality software for them.

I wish! But alas this is not the case. Go ahead and copy and paste a voice within a pack and select both voices, you'll see the used memory increase.

That is definitely something I wish they'd add to YEM

I'm going through this issue with an accordion pack, I think this is the answer to one of my doubts. Link to the topic:

It's a pity indeed!

This is a quick test which tells us that YEM will recognize the same wave if the voice is added in the same pack, not in different packs.

No this is not the case...
Actually YEM handles "duplicate samples" quite good (although problematic and limited software).
I noticed this a few years ago when I use YEM for the first time and do experiments to find the limits of the software but since this was a long time ago and maybe I was wrong, I just test it and what you say it is not truth.

If you copy a "voice" (constitute from one or more wave samples) WITHIN the same pack in YEM, size doesn't increase. YEM use the same wave forms. In this case the size will increase just a few kilobytes (No megabytes...) for the extra .XML (datasheet) file. Nothing more...
I just test it again. There is no pack size increase.

Now if you copy a "voice" from one expansion pack to another then YES the size increase.
In this case (copy the "voice" from one pack to another) YEM create a second instance of the sample for the second pack (this is logical since you can install the two packs in question separately...)

I've already said that in the video above  ;D ;D
