I have downloaded two packs for the SX700 but they are .cpf files and the Yamaha expansion manager does not recognize them. Went to the Expansion manager on file explorer, opened it and looked at the "Instruments" All there EXCEPT the SX700. I have the instrument ID on a USB and that comes up when I open the expansion manager, it shows that I have the SX700 but when I try to load a pack; in the bar that tells all the file types that can be loaded the .cpf file type is not there. When I had the SX900 I had no problems loading and mix'N'match voices and styles from various packs. Now I have forgotten as I just can't get ONE pack to load. I would like the Alpen pack as I have on my Tyros but that is not on the list for the sx700.
So, how do I get to load packs. I selected the SX700 version to download (European) and it arrived in my file manager as a zip file. Opened that to find the .cpf file. Can't do anything with that. Have reinstalled the latest version of expansion manager and that's the problem.
Sorry to be a pain, Regards, Denn.

Hi Denn

I too have the SX700, and if you look in the " PSR/Tyros Features forum under Voice and Style expansion packs you'll see a current post that I have ongoing.

The Latest version of Yamaha Expansion Memory allows you to save the packs for SX700 as either .cqu  OR  .cpi
when you get to save the pack install, those are the only two options.

I've loaded and downloaded several Packs without any issue.

When you UNZIP the file, just use it AS IS.

You don't need to go into the unzipped file.

just click your + button (import pack) and then add the unzipped file from your pc. Then click on, it to highlight it, double click it, and it will load onto your memory stick.

I hope that helps,  current version of YEM is V .2.8.1

Do not forget the instrument definition file from the keyboard. You have to load the file in yem.

Thanks for your replies, main problem solved. I had downloaded the expansion manager and installed it on my computer. Somehow it must have got mixed up somewhere. I uninstalled what was there and downloaded the thing again, same number as before but this time it worked.  :)
