Hi all:

Just curious.. One of my friends told me that Tyros3, even though it was released back in 2008, is actually (a lot) better than SX900.. I checked their specs, it seems SX900 has much more S.Art2 voices? I have never tried and compared these two models. What do you think?

Cheers

The SX 900 dose not have SA 2 voices only S Art. Genos has the SA 2 voices. However the SX900 is a lot more advances that the Tyros 3. Lots more styles and the ability to load in fresh voices and styles via the Yamaha free packs.

In short, the sx900 has better drums, sample loading options, and piano, choir, guitars, ensemble strings

However, if you're looking for solo voices? The T3's SA2 voices (the 1st yamaha to have them) are excellent; phrased Sax glissandos, sampled pitch bend (instead of artificially using the pitch bend), and even phrased solo violin that behaves different depending how you play.

Most of us would take the sx900; the T3 is only better for folks who want to highlight solo voices in their performances.

The T3 also has a better keybed.Still, nowadays I would always choose an SX900 over a T3 because it is a more advanced machine, in general.

Yes, you're right Robert; I forgot about that! Yes, the T3 keybed is *far* superior. Japanese made, non waterfall semi weighted keys with no clacking, with aftertouch as well (sx900 keys are a lot clackier, don't feel as firm, and don't have aftertouch... mind you I only ever used aftertouch for guitar finger vibrato, so your mileage will vary)
