That's lovely, Toril. The original verses were written in a mixture of Old German and Latin. As a choirboy (70+ years ago!), we sang a mixture of English and Latin words. I recall that the final line was "Alpha es et O" - Thou art Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending.
