Using a third party vocal effects.

I am thinking of purchasing a TC - Helicon Harmony Singer for my SX900. Yes I know the 900 has a built in effects for vocal but for various reasons I prefer a stand alone unit. On one of the YouTube vids it states to turn off effects that are on the instrument that is to go into the effects, this would be to much trouble to go through every song on my SX900. Has anyone used the Helicon Harmony and what do you think of it.
