Strange Behavior Genos Communicating with Songbook on the iPad

I have an on again off again problem with my iPad Pro M1 communicating with the Genos/Songbook.  I had been away from the Genos for close to a year so the keyboard was in storage for the last year.    Fast forward to a few weeks ago I never had a communication problem between the Genos and the iPad.  It always worked flawlessly.   Starting a few weeks ago ( even before the iPad M1 Pro) sometimes the registration would pull up the corresponding song on the iPad.  What's weird is sometimes it works just as expected and then other times it does not.    I've done what I think are the obvious things to fix it.  Shut down the Genos and iPad then restart.  Also I restart the midi and have made sure the MD-BT01 is connected to the Genos.  I've also unplugged then reinserted the MB-BT101 into the midi jacks.

Anyone ever had this happen?

Hi Stephen,

Could it be that certain Registration Bank files in the User drive of the Genos or on the USB stick used have been renamed or moved? Or maybe you are currently using, not the original USB stick on which the original Registration Banks linked to SB+ are located?

Try re-linking a Registration Bank from SB+. Does it work as expected (in both directions) then?

Since it "sometimes" works, there shouldn't be a problem with the MIDI connection. Basically, I recommend activating the preset MIDI template "All Parts" on the Genos (this automatically switches on transmitting and receiving of Sy***). And of course, the MD-BT01 adapter must of course be plugged in correctly (either to MIDI A In/Out or to MIDI B In/Out, observing the direction of the arrows for IN and OUT).

P.S.
Are you using the latest version (4.0.6) of Songbook+?

Best regards,
Chris

Chris thank you for the response.  I am on the latest version 4.0.6 of Songbook+    The Bluetooth midi adapter is plugged in the correct way.   After I read your message I went to about 10 different registrations and Songbook+ worked as expected.  Then I went to the section where i have registrations with songs that begin with the letter "A" at that point when I changed a registration the Genos/Songbook + stopped communicating.   As you have suggested I suspect that the problem could be a change in the USB stick.  After I hit send I'm going back to the Genos to start it up along with the iPad and I'll see what happens.  I just may have to relink the files.

Hi Stephen,

yes, since it basically works, the easiest thing to do will be to relink the "not working" Registrations in SB+. Something must have been changed in the file paths of the relevant Registration files. Perhaps one or more folder names have been changed.

P.S.
I also recommend that you make sure that the USB stick used is always recognized as "USB1", i.e. the USB stick connected first.

Best regards,
Chris

Chris thank you for the advice!

I solved my problem and all is working as expected.  I have a back up of my registrations pointing to a USB drive, I also have a copy of those registrations in my user area on the Genos.  Turns out I was pointing registrations in Songbook to different locations, hence sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn't.  I now have them all pointing to the USB drive.
