I am looking for a very nice style of Cheri Cheri Lady. There is a good example on utube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WgskUpBXo0, however I do not understand the language.  I am hoping that someone may have it or know where I can buy it.   Thanks.

Hi Dom,

here you can download a Style for "Cheri Cheri Lady" (two versions, originally intended for PSR-3000 / Tyros):

Hello Chris, that was quick. Thank You.  Need to bother you for some technical advice related to this as things do not make sense to me now.  In the past I learned my lesson never to move things around on my keyboard usb.  So being cautious, I usually create a new folder now and leave things as they are in the other folders.  I try not to add to an existing folder for fear that maybe some directory or path should get altered.  I really should not if things are left in the same folder but not taking any chances. So with the two styles you provided me, I created a new folder on the usb stick MISC STYLES and dropped the two styles there.
Minutes after the USB was loaded I did a search for them like I do with other styles the keyboard search comes up blank.  10 minutes later the same search found them. Is there really that much lag time for the keyboard to read the USB and load for a search?
Also, is it okay to drop new styles into an existing folder, as long as I don't shuffle them around from one folder to another?  Please advise.              dom

Hi Dom,

copying additional files into existing folders will NOT touch the functionality of existing Registrations. You should just make sure that there are not too many files in one folder. With the SX700, the maximum number of files/folders which can be stored in a folder is 2500. But I recommend working with a maximum of 100-200 files per folder. This gives you a much better overview and everything works faster.

If you do not rename or move files used in Registrations (e.g. Styles) afterwards and also do not rename or move folders in which these files are stored, nothing bad can happen. :)

By the way: Usually Styles are called up directly via the Style Selection display (not necessarily via the Search function). So you either touch the currently loaded Style name in the Main display or press a Style Category button. Then you select "User > USB1" to display the folders and Styles on the USB stick, select the folder you want and the Style you want in it.

Especially when you have copied new Styles to the USB stick, it is normal that these Styles cannot be found immediately using the Search function, as the search index must first be updated (automatically in the background).

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Hello Chris, wondering can I use this same post to ask if you have a style for "Crusin" by smokey Robinson.  I don't want to sound too greedy asking for styles.  I know I have to learn how to use style creator but that is coming in the future.  Have to learn the non complex feature/functions of the keyboard first.   Thanks in advance as always. dom

I don't have a song-related Style for "Cruisin" by Smokey Robinson, Dom. I would simply use a standard "16Beat" Style. On the SX700, try "16BeatBallad" (Pop&Rock category) at a tempo of about 85.

You could also try the 16Beat Styles in "Rikki's Style Collection for SX900". Click on the following link to open the SX900 Style site on Psrtutorial, scroll down to "Rikki's Conversions" and download at least the categories "Ballad" and "Pop&Rock". You will find one 16Beat Style in the PopRock folder and 6 of them in the Ballad folder.

Note: I recommend to set the "Tempo" parameter in "Style Setting > Change Behavior" to "Hold". With this setting, the currently set tempo will not change when you call up another Style while the Style is running. (If you call up another Style when the Style is STOPPED, the tempo will be set to the default tempo of the new Style.)

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Chris I am always amazed by your responses.   I did download the styles, slight correction, 6 in the Ballad and 1 in Pop& Rock.  Will try then out and do the Tempo" parameter in "Style Setting > Change Behavior" to "Hold" as you suggested of which I was unaware of until now.  My Behavior setting only shows  "section set=off, Tempo=reset & Part on/off=reset.  So, I changed to temp=HOLD, and amazed at the result.. I have been fumbling with tempo for different style changes while playing and could not make a smooth transition between styles because I would have to change manually.  What an evolution!!!!!! We start off with one song style to the next and then a quick tech comment which opens a complete new door for me with a new feature/understanding of this arranger.

Life is but a learning experience!! I can't say enough about the wealth of knowledge that this forum and people like yourself offers to help enhance the way that we can connect and exploit these wonderful keyboards with a higher level of confidence and appreciation.

                          Many Thanks Again!      dom

I am glad that my tips helped you again, Dom!

I corrected my previous post regarding the indication of the number of Styles in the two folders mentioned. Thank you very much for your hint!

By the way: Basically, you can leave the "Style Setting> Change Behavior> Tempo" parameter set to "Hold" all the time. Normal playing is not affected by this, but the search for suitable Styles for a certain song title is extremely simplified, as you only have to set the desired tempo once, and then you can listen to any number of Styles at this tempo.

Note: You could also set the Tempo parameter to "Lock" (instead of "Hold"). Then the current tempo will also be maintained if you call up a new Style when the Style is STOPPED. After you have found a suitable Style, however, you should change the setting again to "Hold" or "Reset".

Best regards,
Chris
