Dear all.
I use my tyros 4 through a Bose L1s system with a B1 bass speaker and i really love the sound it produces. I'm hoping to get back to gigging and running dances soon. The Bose system is the only p/a i have so if it goes wrong i'm stuck!
I am very much interested in the Yamaha stagepas 400i as a back up system. Any thoughts?
Having owned a Bose tv soundbar that went wrong and was a nightmare and expensive to try and get repaired(Got a Samsung now as it was cheaper to buy than get the Bose repaired)
I'm worried if something goes wrong with my Bose it will be costly to repair. The 400i is in my price range to and also lightweight to gig with and would be plenty powerful enough for my current venues. I know that Eileen L uses the stagepas aswell.
Many thanks
John

John, I may be able to help. I own the Stagepas 400i, which I purchased when I first started playing again a few years ago. I am a former professional pianist and sound person, so hopefully credible here. First, there is a big difference between Bose professional equipment and their home audio. If you need to have Bose pro equipment repaired, your local Bose pro audio dealer should be able to assist you in getting that done.

I still own the 400i and do like it for small venues and rehearsals or as stage monitors, but don't use it as my main system because I have other, more advanced equipment. It does sound good, is very lightweight, and easy to setup and operate. It would also allow you to hear your keyboard in stereo vs. the Bose. It also has an auto notch filter to prevent feedback. I have relied on Yamaha equipment for many years...and Bose as well...so you won't go wrong either way.

Hi Jay
Thanks for your reply.
After using my keyboard through two powered speakers in stereo a while ago it took me some time to get used to the Bose mono sound. However i know that my dancing audience wouldn't tell if i was playing my music in stereo or mono!
During lockdown i have been playing the tyros 4 at home with its own speakers and really enjoyed it in stereo sound.
Just wondered what EQ/CMP setting i should set the tyros 4 to for the stagepas?
When using the Bose i have EQ set to "FLAT" and the compressor "on" and set to "BASIC".
Cheers
John.

Dear John,

I had Stagepas 300 (with stands and trolley bag) for years, using them in small/medium venues.
Excellent quality/price ratio, decent quality on all frequencies, very reliable, easy wiring, with a very convenient mixer included providing a few effects also.
I was very satisfied with arranger sounds and voice.
Of course many higher level products are available on the market. But Stagepas delivers what you need at a very competitive price.
If I would need again a PA system, I would get Stagepas 400i, no doubts.

Now, to play Genos and sing, at home, I have a pair of Yamaha HS8, just perfect. Don't need subwoofer at all.

Ciao
