Hi All

I find that compared to onboard styles, styles downloaded from other performers can vary vastly in volume level and yes I know you can go into the keyboard menu and adjust the style level but I was just wondering if there was any way you could edit the STY file to bring up or down the style volume so all your downloaded styles are roughly the same volume .. I often play some which are very very loud and just turning down your master volume of course also sadly will lower the right hand key volume and having to go into the file menu to adjust the style level up or down is a hit and miss affair!!

Hello,

You can change the volume of your downloaded style files via the Style Volume Changer of Jørgen Sørensen.
Personnaly, I always use registrations so no need for me to change the default volume in the style files itself.

Hello,

Perhaps you can consider using the assign slider to adjust the volume of the style

Works on my Tyros 5

Thanks Johan

I downloaded the software.  I guess I should start learning how to use registrations then ... I haven't delved into that section of the keyboard yet.  Chris

Hi Rondo

Assign Slider?/ more to learn and discover. Is that a physical control??  Chris

Hi Chris,

if I remember correctly, you are working with a PSR-S550. And that is probably the main problem here, because this model only has a total of 8 registration banks, i.e. a total of only 64 individual registrations. If you work with registrations, different volume levels of style files are not a problem. Simply set the style volume once when creating the relevant registration and you're done. (The current style volume is saved automatically.)

Almost all newer / larger models (starting with the PSR-670) save Registration Banks as .RGT files and therefore (apart from the available space on the USB stick) there is no limit to the maximum possible reg banks. So you can use a separate reg bank for each song title (even if not all reg buttons are required).

Best regards,
Chris

Hello ChrisH

Sorry, I was taking for granted that you are playing a tyros model, which has an assign slider.

Perhaps your S550 does not.

So, my suggestion obviously will not be of any use to you.

Again, sorry for that

regards

Ron

Thanks again Chris

According to the manual I can also save registration files to a USB drive and then give them a unique file name to find them easily too!  If I save a registration to the USB and then load it into the keyboard from the USB is it loaded into a spare bank or simply loaded directly into memory?   Having fun regardless!  When I went to the music store last month to buy a keyboard I wanted to get an SX600 or 700 but sadly one of Yamaha's component factories burnt down in China so there was a huge backlog of all the SX models!
