How to REMOVE style/voice packs from GENOS?

Before the pandemic hit, I seem to have installed parts of several expansion packs on my Genos.

HOW can I remove them and start over?

I'm pretty sure that if I execute factory reset, that will do it, but I'd also lose a lot of other stuff that would take quite a bit of time to move to a USB drive.

TIA.

Hi Dave,

you don't need to delete the "old" installed Expansion content first. (This is not even intended by Yamaha.)

Just make the desired NEW selection in your YEM (importing/selecting new Packs and de-selecting or deleting Packs you don't need anymore). Then install this NEW selected content on the Genos. (Save your new .cpi Pack Install file to a USB stick or use the WiFi Pack Install method.)

During the installation process, the "old" Expansion content is automatically removed from the Genos.

P.S.
Please make sure that you are using the latest YEM version (currently V2.7.0) and the latest Genos Firmware version (currently V2.0.2).

Best regards,
Chris

If you're wanting to pretty much start again, then I would recommend using the 'full pack install' rather than the 'quick pack install' (Select from the drop down after selecting the option to make the pack).

Quick install seems to work for some people but I've always had trouble with it (must be something in one of my packs that it doesn't like). But full install works every time, even if takes ages :) I don't change it often so it's not a big deal.

Hi Dave,

yes, of course you should NOT use the "Pack QUICK Install" option, if you want to begin "from scratch". So, if the file type ".cqi" is shown after clicking on "Save as Pack Install File" button, just click on that line and change the file type to ".cpi". (If no protected (.cpf) Pack is involved, select the ".ppi" format for the Pack Install file.)

Thanks Derek & Chris.
I'm gaining understanding and am getting comfortable experimenting!

I'm having issues with the "GranCoda" Steinway piano voices, but that's another topic!

Dave
PS...the issue seems to be that only the GranCoda Legacy voice actually installs/is usable.   I sent the author a PM.
