Hi, are there styles in Styles/Collections I can use in my DGX-670?

Toril S

Yes. Most of the styles will work well. Some will have to be adjusted. Some style files may be too large. In that case you can slim them down using a computer program.

Genos, Tyros 5, PSR S975, PSR 2100
and PSR-47.

Great, is there a free program for slimming down a big Style?

Toril S

Yes, I just do not remember the name, as I never use it.

The DGX-670 can handle Style files up to about 120 KB. And both SFF1 and SFF2 (SFF GE) format Styles can be used. So, almost all available Styles should work.

By the way: I found this information in the DGX-670 Owner's Manual (page 104):
Quote Styles in a USB flash drive cannot be selected.
If the size of the Style data is large (about 120 KB or greater), the Style cannot be selected because the data is too large to be handled by the instrument.

Best regards,
Chris

● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

This is a great improvement. Previous DGX models used to handle style files of 50MB max.

Past keyboards: PSR E313, PSR E413, PSR E433, PSR S550, DGX 640, upright piano.
Now: DGX 650, Casio CT-X800.

The new DGX670 model can now access all 4 style sections (A,B,C,D) unlike previous models which only accessed A and B. So yes, most styles should be at least readable.

Yes, and as a bonus, all three Intros and Endings can also be accessed via the Menu.
Past keyboards: PSR E313, PSR E413, PSR E433, PSR S550, DGX 640, upright piano.

Overall the feedback of the DGX670 is favorable.
They could have taken this opportunity of upgrading the speaker system !!!.
Due to present lockdown I've not had a chance to try the 670.

Any new style we should know about ?

Good evening everyone, some kind soul could explain to a new Yamaha DGX-670 owner, neophyte, how to add new styles in addition to those already present. Thank you

Hi Pierluigi,

just copy the Styles onto a USB stick (on your computer). It is best to use FOLDERS on the USB stick, so do NOT copy too many Style files directly to the Root directory of the USB stick.

Connect the USB stick to the DGX-670.

Press one of the Style category buttons (e.g. Pop&Rock) to open the Style Selection display, go to USB1 tab (use the TAB buttons for this), select the desired Folder (to open it), then select the desired Style (to load it).

Now you can play the Style as usual (and also use its OTS if the Style has any of them). :)

P.S.
You can also COPY Styles (or Folders that contain Styles) from the USB stick into the internal User drive. But this is not recommended because the size of the User drive is only about 20 MB on the DGX-670.

Best regards,
Chris

You load them on to a usb flash drive on a computer and then plug the flash drive into the keyboard. You can then either play the style directly from the flash drive or transfer the styles to your keyboard user memory files. Look at page 86 on your user manual to see exactly how.

thanks everyone for the information, where can i find the styles to add, is there any site in particular? thanks again for the help

mikf

There is much more to the site than the forum. There are lessons, tutorials, style collections and much more. Click on PSR Tutorial on the top right and it takes you to the  home page. Along the top you will find headings. Click on them to explore.

Thank you, I have just taken a tour on the site, another question, of which model of Arranger Yamaha I have to use styles, why can they be compatible with the DGX-670?

Hi
Check out the sites listed at http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/stylesites.htm

Without going into details, most styles will be compatible, but might need some tweaking because voices vary between models. There might also be some bad ones in there. You just need to get in about it and experiment.

Thanks to your advice I have tried the styles of the PSR-3000 and they all work very well, now I will try those of the PSR-SX900 which is a newer model, and see how they will go. Thanks again for the valuable advice. I'll keep you up-to-date

vbdx66

Hi Pigix,

You could try those of the PSR SX600. If I understand correctly, the SX600 and the DGX670 share the same sound engine, so this should work flawlessly.

Now: DGX 650, Casio CT-X800.

As for the styles of the PSR-SX900 many do not work completely, so I would exclude them, regarding the PSR-SX600 I have not found anything about it in the appropriate section. Thanks anyway for the tip.

Loading Tyros Styles into DGX670

Today I phoned a Yamaha dealer who has DGX670 in stock. He had Tyros Styles on a USB Stick and he stated the ones he tried into the DGX670 all loaded and played.

In addition to the link that Roger sent, .... you are currently in the forum, but there is much more to this site than the forum. If you click the top right where it says "psr tutorial home" at the top right, it takes you onto the full website and you can follow links to many sections with lessons, articles, styles etc etc
