Can I plug synth line out into mic input

Inspired by the other thread on feeding an audio file back into the MIC input.

I have a small desktop synth module which only has a mono line-out output and no inbuilt effects. It works fine through the Genos AUX IN. But as shown in the block diagram in the reference manual, AUX IN cannot have any Genos insert effects applied.

So, is it safe to plug its line-out into the Genos MIC input instead so that I can apply the MIC effect? I don't want to risk blowing anything up ...

Just use a passive DI-Box to convert the signal appropriatly. The Palmer PAN 01 (just use internet search) would be a sound and cost effective choice  (I've been using the stereo version PAN 04 for years). Connect the synth out to DI-Box line in and its balanced out to the Genos mic input.
