Quantize MIDI recorded as 4/4 but really 6/8?

I have a "quick recorded" song using Genos 6/8 Guitar Ballad style.
According MixMaster, the time sig. is 4/4.

How can the RH channels be quantized?

TIA.

Hi Dave,

many 6/8 Styles are programmed in 4/4.

6 eighth notes in 6/8 are two "eighth note triplets" in 4/4.

Try to use the "1/8 note triplet" or "1/8 note + 1/8 note triplet" Quantize setting. Please also refer to page 83 in the Genos Reference Manual V2.00.

Best regards,
Chris

The 6/8 programmed as 4/4 is exactly what I have, Chris.
I'll take a look at the Genos option.   For the 10 or so years that I've been doing Yamaha keyboards, I've always depended on MixMaster.   Hopefully, this idea of using the keyboard's facilities will be a life-saver for sure!

Thanks....will let you know how it comes out.

Hi Dave,

thank you for the quick feedback!

By the way: You can also use the Quantize function of MixMaster (see the attached picture).

The only difference is that MixMaster don't have the combined "1/8 note + 1/8 note triplet" Quantize function. But in most cases it should be enough to use only the "1/8 note triplets" Quantize function.

Best regards,
Chris

Chris,
The keyboard's 1/8th triplet worked fine!

I'm working on old hymns and 20th century gospel and there are MANY that have a kind of "shuffle" rhythm that this might also work well on.  We shall see!

I recall a long time ago, I think I asked Michael B. about syncopated rhythms in MixMaster and I think he said it couldn't be done.   So I've usually done it the hard way:  adjust each pair of notes manually.   Good thing I'm retired and have nothing else to do but create music and drive my wife to the grocery store.

Thanks again.

Hi Dave,

thanks again for your feedback! I'm glad to could help you!

P.S.
As I wrote above (in my second post): MixMaster (V19r1) also has an "1/8th note triplet" Quantize function. :)

Best regards,
Chris
