Sorry if this has an obviously answer, what is the idea of having "Expansion Memory" and user memory in PSR instead of putting all the user memory in just one all space? What is the idea of having user memory and Expansion Memory? Is in it all the same thing?  Thanks.

User memory is where you store styles and voices, the expansion memory is for installing expansion packs.

Yes two different things. You will find some installed packs in your SX900. Press Expansion /User button on voices or styles and you will find them.

Ok, thanks. But isn't the same expansion pack a file containing Styles? so why storing styles in user memory and the styles that came on packs have to be installed in expansion memory? why not just installing or saving them in the same user memory. Sorry but it don't understand the reason why. Yes I know that these packs must be stored or installed in that particular part of memory, but why not just save the style files in user memory. Confused!

Hi,

When you install a pack, this can have inside many(waves from the new voices, voices made with internal sound, styles, registrations, song...)
Yamaha way is: ONLY waves go to Expansion memory other things go to User memory.
So the styles from pack goes to the User memory and for this, for example with S670 you can have in pack around of 30 styles with cleaned user memory, after that memory will be full.

Regards!

A pack may contain voices registration bank and multi pads as well as styles. These things will usually all contain the voices in them so they are all loaded together in the pack so that everything matches up. You may of course say styles one at a time to user if you don't want the whole pack loaded but then you will need to re-voice some so they sound OK when using on there own.

Thanks Misu and Eileen, now I understand what is the meaning of having an Installation Pack, they come all together as a pack and works also together with the things inside, As mentioned by Eileen, a particular Style probably is attach or linked to specific voices, multipads etc etc. that makes use of them, that is the reason why they put it all in one piece or in a pack, probably some other styles do not need for voices or other that were manipulated or changed, they use the ones that are installed standard, so in that case that specific style could go in user memory. I suppose Yamaha is trying to make things a little bit easier for users, but in some cases this kind of things can be confusing when trying to understand the way they were done. Thanks for your support.
