I am having trouble finding a relatively easy way to copy a few measures from a midi song in one section, and pasting it to another section.  I want to add that section, together with the original accompaniment for instrumental soloing. My keyboards are, apparently, not up to the task.  The only notation program I have is Notate Composer, which copies and pastes the measures all right, but only the notation, but not the sound.

The best is XgWorks
Very easy to copy section from a midi file
or copy secties from one midi file to another midi file

I see it is discontinued.  Is there a place to get it?

Thank you Janus
I have installed it and will try and learn what I need.  There is a question about an application not being assigned.  Also.Winzip updater won't update the drivers unless I pay the $30 license.  Is this something I need to do.  Can this be used as a stand alone pc program for my need,or is a keyboard connection necessary. What kind of app is necessary?

Inserting parts SMF works with the Importer function, the video is here.

By the way, you can do that with other programs like Cubase or Cakewalk (free) ...

Yes you can use the importer
I use an easy way
Load the donor midifile
Select the parts or multiple parts you need, use copy
Load the file you need to copy to
select the place you want copy to and use paste
I use the importer for default parts i use in many midifiles

Thank you both for your gracious help.  With the advise and links,I should be off to a good start. BTW,I am an old musician born way before the digital age,so I don't understand DAWS.  It sounds like this little program is my speed(I hope).
