Hi all. I hope everyone is safe & well. My question is, can I plug my S950 to a computer & use VSTs or does it have  to be a controller/master keyboard. Thanks in advance. Bob

Hi Bob,
yes you can use your Psr to play with VST's on the computer.
All you need is simple printer cable like this:

And probably you will need to install a midi driver on your computer if it is not already installed.
A midi driver is needed so that your computer can "see" your psr and to know what it can do with it.

Thank you Panos & Norman, that's a great help. I have a spare printer cable but not sure about the midi driver.

Next question! Can anyone recommend a free VST for pad & Electric piano sounds?

The best VSTs are from

Spitfire Audio Labs
Kontakt Factory library.

And there are other companies that make Instruments for Kontakt some of them have free stuff too.

Other free vst's

And you can find many more free vst's on Youtube.Just search for "best free vst"
I don't have time to try vst's and stuff but you can download and try your self if you see something that you might like.

But in order to combine a sound from one vst with the sound of another vst like the way we use right 1 voise and right 2 voice of our keyboards, you will need also a program that can handle these vst's(or vst plug-ins) and this program is called a DAW.
And your keyboard will be "connected" with this DAW with the help of the midi cable.

Just keep in mind you will have to spend some time to manage these stuff.

On your s950 if you press "Function+J" you will see some MIDI stuff there.
These different options (I think) let the keyboard to understand that another software will use it's keybed and will give access to it, although I don't understand much of these midi orders and don't know how to properly use them.
I just choose one preset midi option that I can hear the sound coming from my computer and not my keyboards voices.I can't remember which one though.I just press the buttons to find out which one it is.
Pretty "pro" way to accomplish what I want before searching google for a solution ;D
