Channel On Off Midi song

PSR SX900:
'Solo' and 'channel off/mute' doesn't seem to be functioning while playing MIDI song from the PC although the 'Pink' lights and 'no lights' respectively come up when touched. It only functions if Midi is played from KB.Is this a permanent feature or is there a setting?
