New Software Project

Hi All,

I am starting a new software project. Actually it will be a new addition to Midi Maker.

The new project will turn Midi Maker backing tracks, which are currently midi files with lyrics, into audio files with lyrics. It is already possible to play CDG/MP3 files on some keyboards.

I want to extend that to recording Midi Maker songs as audio files and then converting them to MP3/CDG files so that folks can make their own audio backing tracks.

Still doing research but it seems entire possible and it will be a natural extension to Midi Maker.

I have finished the work needed to support the SX700 and SX900 keyboards in Midi Maker.

I should have the audio (MP3) support done in a few days and then I will release a brand new version of Midi Maker.

Keep an eye on my Yamaha Music Board Midi Maker thread: https://yamaha-music-board.freeforums.net/thread/61/midi-maker-news

Thanks folks. I take a great amount of pleasure in programming for fun.

For the SX900 and SX700 support I have to thank the following people:

Dale (daleSP) for his work on the SX900 style numbers.
Misoslav (Sardonyx) for supplying info.
Dave Nuttall for supplying info.
Peter Wierzba for his help in the process.

Regards, Richard

I have made some changes to my Yamaha Music Board with regard to Midi Maker.

I am getting ready to release a brand new version in the next few days, which will include support for the SX700 and SX900 keyboards and have the ability to create midi backing tracks as well as MP3 backing tracks, including lyrics.

Midi Maker will still be free of charge. However, new software releases and tutorials as well as direct support from me will only be available to members of my board from this point onwards.

There are now upwards of 50 people actively using Midi Maker and I expect that number to increase a lot with the new features and as people realise they don't have to buy backing tracks for their gigs. They can make their own. This software is unique in the Yamaha music world and my only reward is the satisfaction of having people use the software. In future I would like to see people sharing their backing tracks with others, that would be fun.

Best regards all,
Richard

There's a delay on me working on Midi Maker. I am not well at the moment. This could not come at a worse time since my country is in partial lockdown because of the Coronavirus. My doctor is working things out for me.

Richard

Hi all,

I am feeling better and I am back on the project. The next version will be major because I am overhauling the code and simplifying where I can.

I hope you guys are avoiding the Coronavirus and doing what the experts are advising. I had a test just to be sure and it was negative. My country is in almost total lockdown now. Supermarket shelves are empty. It seems like the whole world is spinning out of control.

Stay safe
Richard

Someone edited my last post. It seems like the editor prefers to live in a fantasy world rather than face the harsh truth.

I wrote a harsher comment on my music board and toned it down a bit here because I suspected certain people would be offended.

If anyone wants to see what I actually think and wrote you can find it at my music board here:
